Awh, that’s too bad about the sausage thing! I didn’t think of that first, myself. I just thought, oh that sounds like [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], which I like. [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] is pretty =]
I think of the beautiful city, with [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] being an equally beautiful name. I love it! And I guess sausages aren’t the worst association, but knowing or knowing of a little girl called [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] would probably soon displace the connection anyway.
The place, the luxurious Habsburg palaces and [name_m]Mozart[/name_m]. Not once of sausages! Also, [name_u]Billy[/name_u] [name_m]Joel[/name_m] has some truly incredible, beautiful songs.
The Name [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] is bright, bubbly, delightful, romantic, sweet, and musical, just like the Incredible City in [name_f]Austria[/name_f]! [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] has been on my Top Five List for Daughters every since my Husband and I visited Europe 16 years ago! Back then I had NEVER heard of it mentioned ANYWHERE as a Girl’s Name and so, when I mentioned it to my Husband, he completely vetoed it for that reason!
The City of [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] is a sparkling, shimmering, golden place filled with [name_f]Music[/name_f] and magic! A PERFECT Namesake for a little [name_f]Princess[/name_f]!
My first thought is the city but then my second is the sausages. I agree with a pp though, a cute little [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] will be able to shake the sausage connotation for some people.
I love [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] a lot. I think of the beautiful (well, I assume, anyway!) European city. I read a series of novels that started out being set in [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] in WWII-era, and it focused on a violinist and cellist who played for an orchestra there, and so [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] makes me think of the gorgeous St. [name_m]Stephen[/name_m]'s Cathedral, beautiful strings music ([name_m]Mozart[/name_m], [name_m]Bach[/name_m], [name_m]Brahms[/name_m], Handel, Chopin, [name_m]Wagner[/name_m], omgoodness), hope, and even fighting for mankind. I would totally go for it if I had the chance. (Then again, I’m a vegetarian, so [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] sausages probably would have been the LAST thing to pop into my brain…)
Good luck!
I think of the beautiful city! To me, [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] is elegant and classy, with just a touch of unique.
Vienna the beautiful city, but unfortunately there are those sausages.
Consider Verona, also a beautiful Italian city Setting for letters to Juliette. And akin to the more well known Veronica.
If you don’t have enough of a connection to [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] (the city) to make it meaningful for YOU regardless of what others think - don’t use it. [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] is a city rich in important history. Use [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] as a name only if you’ve a) been there, or b) have family from there, or c) the city’s history is somehow important to you.
I think of a gorgeous place and beautiful waltz music, not some crummy sausages! Go for it!
So we’re not to name children place names unless we are deeply connected with it? I can see that advice for [name_m]Boise[/name_m] or [name_m]Des[/name_m] Moines, but [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] belongs to anyone who loves the word.
I think of the capital of [name_f]Austria[/name_f].
