Vintage or unisex?

Hello again everyone! Still having difficulty on narrowing down names (and time is ticking - one month left!). It seems I like a name one day and then the next I find something wrong with it. Right now I’m debating between going old-fashioned, which I love, or going more unisex/surname, which possibly matches better with my daughter. I have an [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] (after dad) and [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u] -girl (after mom)…

[name_f]My[/name_f] fav old fashioned….I think they sound great with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]…

[name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_f]Enid[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] - hubby not so big on this one

[name_f]My[/name_f] fav unisex…Possibly goes better with daughter [name_u]Finley[/name_u]…

[name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u] - current top of list, but somedays think it sounds clunky?
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_u]Bryn[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]

Last name is one syllable, starts with B.
What are your thoughts? What kind of girl do you picture with these names? And do you think old-fashioned or unisex is a better match with siblings?

Thank you! Always so helpful to hear from you nameberries!

Although vintage names are more my style, I think with a daughter named [name_u]Finley[/name_u], it’s best to stick with a unisex name for a second girl. [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] may be a bit short with your one-syllable “B” surname. I like [name_u]Arden[/name_u] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. Have you considered [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]? From the vintage list, I think Nell would be the least mismatched option. Have you thought about using Maple instead of Mabel?

Of all the names you listed, I like
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_u]Bryn[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]
best, and I think of them as more pretty and feminine than unisex.

I like [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u] for your family. I agree with @[name_u]Mischa[/name_u] that a unisex girls name would be more advantageous and I love that you paired the green and luscious [name_u]Eden[/name_u] with a simpler classic like [name_u]Clare[/name_u]. (Also [name_u]Eden[/name_u] over [name_u]Arden[/name_u] so that each of your kids get their own initial. [name_f]My[/name_f] FH and I are both A’s and when writing things on a schedule I usually my nn to make things easier -> seems like a silly thing but I think if you like both equally definitely something that will make day to day easier. Also [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is a bit more feminine than [name_u]Arden[/name_u] to me.)

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite name on your list is [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is a close second. While [name_u]Finley[/name_u] isn’t vintage, it still pairs fine with non-unisex names. I am not really loving [name_u]Arden[/name_u] or [name_u]Eden[/name_u], but that’s just me. [name_u]Arden[/name_u] sounds harsh, [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is very biblical.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]? [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u] doesn’t work (sorry), but [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is pretty! [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] would be even prettier! or [name_f]Brynna[/name_f]? ([name_f]Brynn[/name_f]-uh)

I would nix [name_f]Florence[/name_f] right off the bat because [name_u]Finley[/name_u] & [name_f]Florence[/name_f] are a little too matchy for me.

I have to agree with your hubby on [name_f]Enid[/name_f]. Is there a reason you like this name? It just seems there are so many wonderful amazing names out there that [name_f]Enid[/name_f] falls, well, short to me (I’m bring polite).

I like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] but not with [name_u]Finley[/name_u]. I like [name_u]Arden[/name_u] alot. I think it’s your best choice but does it match too much with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] so [name_u]Finley[/name_u] is the odd one? I think [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] is nice.

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is a whole lotta name! It goes well with [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] but not so much with [name_u]Finley[/name_u]. The challenge to me is that [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] and [name_u]Finley[/name_u] are such different names I’m not sure which direction you should go.

What about [name_f]Nora[/name_f]? Sort of a nice compromise? Or

[name_f]Elenor[/name_f]
[name_f]Linnea[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowen[/name_u]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]

[name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u] is very unisex, but I think [name_f]Nell[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] would work in your family.

I love [name_f]Enid[/name_f]! it means life & spirit. Not my favorite for you, but just wanted to show her some love

Your unisex choices work better. I like both [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]. [name_m]Byrn[/name_m] [name_u]Clare[/name_u] Blank is way too choppy. [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u] would be pretty.

Some of the vintage ones work better than others, ie. [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and Ida. And actually I think [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u] sound cute together.

What about something vintage but at the same time kind of modern/trendy to go with [name_u]Finley[/name_u], like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]?

[name_f]Ida[/name_f] really jumps out at me!

Thanks for everyone’s response! [name_f]Nell[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u] are at top of list - although I am a little reluctant at having another A name, as was brought up earlier, although my husband says it doesn’t matter. Any other suggestions along those lines? Something both old-fashioned yet strong, or else unisex yet feminine? Appreciate all your comments and suggestions! Thanks!
