I am posting for future reference. DH and I have decided on a name for our first child/daughter- [name]Hattie[/name] I [name]LOVE[/name] vintage, old-fasioned names, DH loves trendy names and so we have [name]Hattie[/name]. Goes along with modern trends while still maintaining its vintage feel. Middle names are family names. I am trying to come up with a list of future sibling names. I am concerned that I will not be able to find names that A. fit with [name]Hattie[/name] and B. that we love just as much as [name]Hattie[/name].
Here is our list thus far, but I would like to add/hopefully find a name that gives me the same feel as [name]Hattie[/name]…
Girls:
[name]Ada[/name] (I like this with [name]Hattie[/name], but it seems kind of bland)
[name]Pearl[/name] (It’s growing on me)
[name]Lucy[/name] (We like, but don’t [name]LOVE[/name])
[name]Zoe[/name] (different feel, but DH [name]LOVE[/name]'S it)
First of all, I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Hattie[/name] [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]! I like your suggestions, and agree with most of your comments beside them. [name]Ada[/name] is sweet but does seem a bit bland. [name]Zoe[/name] is sweet but doesn’t seem to match [name]Hattie[/name] (though this idea of sibling names “matching” means more to other posters on this forum than it does to me…I say use what you love).
As far as suggestions go, a ton of girls’ names come to mind that I think fit your criteria:
I can’t really give you any boys’ names suggestions, because I feel that most boys’ names in use have been around for centuries and are therefore classic/vintage. I do like all three of those that you mentioned. Good luck, and congrats on baby [name]Hattie[/name]!
I love [name]Hattie[/name] [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]! it’s such a sweet combo! [name]Iris[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Elsie[/name]/[name]Ellie[/name]/[name]Ella[/name], [name]Cora[/name], [name]Josie[/name], [name]Nellie[/name], [name]Emma[/name]/[name]Emmie[/name], [name]Stella[/name], [name]Annie[/name], [name]Etta[/name], [name]Enna[/name], and [name]Beth[/name] all have the same feel as [name]Hattie[/name] does to me. I just realized that you have [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] on the middle name list, can they not be used as first names? The boys names are a bit harder, maybe [name]Albert[/name]/[name]Alfred[/name], [name]Abram[/name]/[name]Abraham[/name], [name]Bennet[/name], [name]Charles[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]Jack[/name], [name]Calvin[/name], [name]Gideon[/name], [name]Jonah[/name] or [name]Asher[/name]?
I also like [name]Levi[/name] [name]Richard[/name] or [name]Flynn[/name] [name]Jeremiah[/name] (to honor [name]Jerry[/name]).
For a girl, I think [name]Ada[/name] is so sweet! [name]Hattie[/name] and [name]Ada[/name] are perfect together! To make it feel less “bland” (which I don’t think it is!), you can use a longer, feminine, vintage middle name:
averelladavina - [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] are not in the running as first names. I love [name]Emma[/name] but it is a little too popular for my taste. [name]Cora[/name] is after [name]MIL[/name]‘s middle name [name]Cori[/name]. I don’t love the name as a FN nor does DH so it would have to be a middle. [name]Love[/name] the suggestion of [name]Stella[/name], but [name]Tori[/name] Spelling’s daughters are [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Hattie[/name]! I love the names together but don’t want to hear “Oh, like [name]Tori[/name] Spelling?” whenever I tell people my daughters’ names.
lol I don’t even try to keep up with celebs so that never occered to me! what about Estelle/Estella or Esther? Similar to Stella without the Tori Spelling refrence. For example I thing Estelle Cora Elizabeth or Estelle Cora Emmeline would be lovely
First of all, I [name]LOVE[/name] all of your boy names. [name]Noah[/name] has always been a favorite of mine, and [name]Flynn[/name] and [name]Levi[/name] are traditional and yet fresh at the same time. All are strong names that go great with [name]Hattie[/name].
For your girl names, I really like [name]Pearl[/name] of the three you listed. I like [name]Lucy[/name], but not as much with [name]Hattie[/name]. I could see [name]Cora[/name] as first name for you, or maybe even [name]Coralie[/name]. [name]Even[/name] though it ends in the same “ie” as [name]Hattie[/name], i sounds different because it has an extra syllable.
My favorite set would be either [name]Hattie[/name], [name]Noah[/name], and [name]Pearl[/name] or [name]Hattie[/name], [name]Flynn[/name], and [name]Coralie[/name].
Good luck!!
We also would like to continue the tradition of 2 middles. Suggestions would be great! Some family names to consider for middles are:
Boys- [name]Jerry[/name] (or variations of), [name]Richard[/name], [name]Aaron[/name], [name]David[/name]
Girls: [name]Dolores[/name], [name]Emma[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Cora[/name]
Thanks to all for responding. I think [name]Bea[/name] is so adorable but looks unfinished. What are other old fashioned full names besides [name]Beatrice[/name]?
