Violet Rain

We have falling in love with [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Rain[/name_u] for our little girl but I’m [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] and wanted to know thoughts on is it too like my ? will people think is to cheesy?

thanks in advance

I don’t think they are too similar, because the [name_f]Vi[/name_f] in [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is pronounced differently than the [name_f]Vi[/name_f] in [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. I’ve seen mother-daughter names that are much “closer”, for instance an [name_f]Annette[/name_f] with a daughter [name_f]Anne[/name_f], and nobody ever said anything about that.

I more have a problem with the first name being a color and the second name being an object. Like it is describing the rain as being violet.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]! It’s not too close to [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. Not a fan of [name_u]Rain[/name_u].It sounds cheesy with [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. However, it’s just a middle name.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Rain[/name_u]! Beautiful!
I personally prefer [name_f]Raine[/name_f]. [name_f]Raina[/name_f] is another option as well.

All I can think of is the song purple rain. I think it’s too wordy as a combo.

I only want to see you laughing in the purple rain.
Purple rain, purple rain…

Agreed! I love [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and think [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are fine, but I’m not crazy about [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Rain[/name_u] (especially with the [name_u]Rain[/name_u] spelling–even [name_f]Rayne[/name_f] or [name_f]Raine[/name_f] make it a bit better, and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Reina[/name_f] would be lovely!).

Good luck!

yes thats what we are aiming for … the prince song

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Rain[/name_u]! Its absolutely gorgeous and also has a whimsical, nature quality as well. Its definitely not cheesy, its perfect!

Maybe [name_f]Raina[/name_f] instead of [name_u]Rain[/name_u]?

…Agreed!

This exactly. Sounds a bit to wordy for me. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Raina[/name_f] would fix that though!
I do not think that [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Rain[/name_u] sounds too close to [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] though, the [name_f]Vi[/name_f] in [name_f]Violet[/name_f] sounds different than the [name_f]Vi[/name_f] in [name_f]Virginia[/name_f].

What about [name_f]Violette[/name_f] [name_f]Raine[/name_f]?

When I see it I think of a weather forecast, like “violent rains coming through the western hemisphere…”

I think it sounds like a Gatorade flavor or laundry detergent. But if you love it, I’d leave the spelling as-is. Changing it makes it seem like a pun.

Beautiful! I love it and do not think it is similar to [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]

[name_u]Love[/name_u] them separately but not together. Not a fan of two word names together like that, too descriptive. I just think of purple rain, or violent rain… Like it’s really pouring!

If you’re ok with this aspect, then I think it’s fine.

[name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] really only share a V but not the sounds. My name is very similar to my mom’s, and even though it could be a little annoying when I was younger, I love having a connection to her name now that I’m older. Perhaps your little [name_f]Violet[/name_f] will like having a shared connection to your name when she’s older.

Oooh - hard!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the sound of it, but it seems like a book title or song name, not a person. Also, could sound like [name_f]Viole[/name_f]nt [name_u]Rain[/name_u].
