Violet? Sister for Mannix

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all

I am 33 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 - a little girl. For a while we have been thinking [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is the name. But I am starting to wonder if I’ve missed something. If our son had been a girl, he would have been [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. We abandoned the name after the Beckhams used it though. We considered [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] for a while, before agreeing on [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. Our son is [name_m]Mannix[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]. Help Berries! Are there other names we should be considering? Open to all suggestions.

While [name_f]Violet[/name_f] has a lovely sound and meaning, we are seeing an awful lot of little Violets nowadays. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though it’s just in the Top 100, it’s pretty trendy, so you may be seeing more Violets than you may think, if popularity of the name matters to you. If it doesn’t, then I really like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]!

I love [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], it’s really pretty, but with [name_m]Mannix[/name_m] all I see is:

Violent and manic.

I thought this too :/. I don’t know if most people’s brains would go there though. We berries overanalyze names like it’s our job.

I think [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is a really nice combo.

Yep. [name_m]Just[/name_m] this.

I agree with the others. I’m sorry. It is already hard for me to read or hear [name_f]Violet[/name_f] without reading or hearing violent. The two names together makes this worse.

I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. I also really love the combo [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_m]Mannix[/name_m] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] are adorable together.

Okay, I’m about to be honest, so I hope no one takes this as being ugly, but I am really sick of people saying that the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f] reminds them of violent. It’s just ridiculous. They do not sound anything alike when I say them out loud, but maybe that is just my particular accent? And maybe I’m just defensive because I love the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. :expressionless:

I disagree with other posters. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_m]Mannix[/name_m] are fine together.

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f],and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are too.

I’m sorry that you feel hurt.

I did not post my opinion to be mean and to hurt someone’s feelings. I was making a personal comment about how I feel about the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f], answering the question the OP had. Maybe I am strange for hearing and seeing violent, but I do.

@lovemysweeties no worries  I’m just being overly sensitive

I don’t think violent when I see/hear [name_f]Violet[/name_f]…I think it’s a lovely name! It was just when I read the combo, [name_m]Mannix[/name_m] (which I also think is a cool name) & [name_f]Violet[/name_f], my mind went to manic and violent. If I met sibs with these names tho, even if I thought that for a split second, I still would think they had great names.
