[name]Hi[/name] all,
What are your opinions on the name [name]Violet[/name]? [name]How[/name] popular is [name]Violet[/name] really? I do not know any personally, but the name is supposedly becoming very trendy.
Also, do you prefer the nickname [name]Vi[/name] or [name]Lettie[/name] and why?
Thanks,
[name]Chelsea[/name]
I love the name [name]Violet[/name]! So pretty and fresh feeling. It’s one of our middle name choices. I only know of 2 people who have used [name]Violet[/name] and they live in different parts of the country. I think it gets a lot of attention, but not many are really naming their child this.
I would choose [name]Vi[/name] or [name]Vivi[/name] for a nickname.
It’s a nice name, but is very well-known. I know more than a few little girls with [name]Violet[/name] as a middle name (which seems to be more common in my area than using it for a first name).
I absolutely adore the nickname [name]Lettie[/name]. It sounds so spunky, you hardly ever hear of it (as there aren’t many names that shorten to it, and the ones that do aren’t popular). Finally, it reminds me of [name]Letty[/name] from the Fast and the Furious movies, which are up there in my favorites.
I hear it’s becoming trendy, but I’ve not met one [name]Violet[/name], not a little old lady or an adorable little baby, but that’s with [name]Violet[/name] ranking 4 spots lower than the national average. I adore it, it’s on my top 5.
At this point, it probably would average out to about 1 [name]Violet[/name] born in each county each year, which makes the probability of there being another [name]Violet[/name] in your daughter’s school district very slim (not to mention her grade!). It’d have to get much more popular for me to worry about it. I think it’s fab, I’d love to have a [name]Violet[/name] one day. I prefer [name]Lettie[/name] to [name]Vi[/name] ([name]Vi[/name] just seems so generic and fifties to me, I don’t know why), but I’m not a huge fan of [name]Lettie[/name], either. My mom would tell me stories from when she grew up about this … quite unlady like woman, haha. Her name was [name]Letty[/name] and every time she came into church, she flopped down on the front pew so hard it rocked the pew back and forth and shook the whole church. It just seems so ungraceful and clumsy to me, lol. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Lottie[/name] and Liddy, but I can’t really get behind [name]Lettie[/name]. I’ve tried to get [name]Lottie[/name] or Liddy (or even [name]Lola[/name] or [name]Io[/name]) from [name]Violet[/name], but they all seem to be a bit of a stretch. I wish I could find a nn for [name]Violet[/name] I loved, if only because I don’t want my daughter being stuck called [name]Vi[/name] all the time, but I just can’t seem to find anything that sticks. I love just [name]Violet[/name] on its own.
Good luck!
[name]Violet[/name] is such a pretty name and the nn [name]Vi[/name] is my favorite.
I have never come across a single [name]Violet[/name] and I have worked with kids for the last 6yrs.
