Is [name_f]Violet[/name_f] really that common? It was number 36 in 2019, but I don’t think I have ever met one of any age.
Have you ever known a [name_f]Violet[/name_f]? Where are you from (if you are comfortable sharing)? What are the ages of the Violets you have known?
When I lived in the mid-west last year and was working as a children’s librarian, I heard [name_f]Violet[/name_f] everywhere! It was definitely one of the more common names that I heard on baby girls, but I also heard it pretty commonly on older kids, up to age 10 or so. It’s definitely getting use, but it’s so gorgeous, that I can see why!
I will say, while it is popular where I live, it’s nowhere near as popular as names like [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], etc.
I didn’t really know it was popular until I saw the charts, it’s quite strange cause I never met a [name_f]Violet[/name_f] either! Maybe someone who works with children can answer that I’m also stumped
I love the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and I’ve always thought the same thing. I don’t know anyone in real life who has that name. I’m in Los [name_f]Angeles[/name_f]…
I’ll also say… I have two kids of grade school age and there’s no violets in their school either…
I have only known one [name_f]Violet[/name_f] (a baby, now a toddler, sister to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]), but sad to say, I don’t know many kids under the age of high school. I live in Northern [name_u]California[/name_u].
I met a little [name_f]Violet[/name_f] in Target a couple years ago. If I’m remembering correctly, I think she’d be three now Other than little ones I know of that belong to Berries, I haven’t come across any others. But I’m not around very many littles.
I’m in Southern [name_u]California[/name_u] for reference.
Never met one either! I’m from the [name_f]Arizona[/name_f] USA
Hopefully you all are able to see it. I used Namerology.com’s Ultimate US Name Map and searched the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. I don’t know how accurate it is, but it looks like the name is fairly common in the north and not so much in the south.
@starless, according to the map, it appears you are correct about [name_f]Violet[/name_f] being more common in the midwest. I am in the midwest, and my state is shaded orange. That’s a little disappointing.
@CandiceRFW @Harvest-[name_u]Endellion[/name_u] @futuremama @rhodes2nowhere, the southwestern states have average or less than average usage of the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f] according to the map, which would make it less likely to meet someone named [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
Thanks for your responses. I think it’s crazy how high in popularity this name is, yet everyone who has responded so far hasn’t known very many or none at all! I’m not expecting yet, but I’m afraid that Violets would all of a sudden start popping up everywhere as soon as I would name my own kid [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
Makes sense! I can’t see it being a popular name here.
Thanks for posting the map, interesting to see how it the popularity flows throughout the country! It’s definitely one to keep an eye on.
And, one of the good things about [name_f]Violet[/name_f], is that there are some other similar names/variants you can choose, that aren’t nearly as popular (ie [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Violetta[/name_f], [name_f]Violette[/name_f]) if you still really like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] but are really worried about the popularity.
I do work with children and have never met a [name_f]Violet[/name_f] of any age! I live in Australia.
I live in Australia and know one [name_f]Violet[/name_f], a little girl who’s about 5. It is in the top 50 here though so it’s somewhat popular.
I’ve overheard 2 baby Violets but I’ve never actually ‘met’ one
I’m not living in an [name_f]English[/name_f] speaking country so I don’t know any where I live, but my friend [name_f]Violet[/name_f] (from US) says she knows a lot of them.
I live in [name_f]England[/name_f], where it’s currently rated 53rd, but I’ve never actually met one. I think it was the name of a great-aunt who was estranged from the family, but whilst I’m aware that it’s much more popular for little ones at the moment, I’m yet to encounter one. There is a single [name_f]Violet[/name_f] in my school, though I’ve never met her.
I’m also in [name_f]England[/name_f]. I’ve met a couple of little ones, but I still think it feels fresh and interesting. It may be pretty popular, but it doesn’t really share any strong sounds with other popular names (unlike [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Lilly[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], etc. or [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], etc.) so it still feels quite individual. I really like it!
