Hello! I need your help with girls names! I already have a [name]Luc[/name] and Im looking for a French name for the new baby. [name]Hope[/name] you guys can help me out!!
I like [name]Juliette[/name]. But both are lovely. Good luck!
I prefer [name]Juliette[/name]
This is so tough, since I really like both (but I prefer the single t variation)! At the moment, I’m feeling for sweet [name]Violette[/name]…but that might change tomorrow lol
[name]Both[/name] are lovely, but I’d have to go with [name]Juliette[/name], especially with [name]Luc[/name] as sib.
Am I right that [name]Violette[/name] is pronounced Vee-oh-let as opposed to [name]VI[/name]-uh-let (violet)? I think this is a really fun derivation, but I worry that it would get pronounced incorrectly a lot if that is the way you are saying it. For that reason I’d pick [name]Juliette[/name].
[name]Violette[/name], unless you are pronouncing it like [name]Violet[/name].
[name]Juliette[/name] is pretty too, but I don’t see the point if you are using the French spelling and pronounce it the English way.
I prefer [name]Juliette[/name] to [name]Violette[/name]. I like [name]Violet[/name], but [name]Violette[/name] I think would be mispronounced as [name]Violet[/name] a lot of the time.
I prefer [name]Violette[/name], both lovely names though.
[name]Violette[/name] by far! It’s such a beautiful name with her brother [name]Luc[/name] (which is a wonderful name, by the way).
Hmm…
For me I prefer [name]Violette[/name] too [name]Juliette[/name]. [name]Violette[/name] is really elegant, demure and adds a shiny femininity to [name]Violet[/name] (even though I do prefer [name]Violet[/name]) whereas [name]Juliette[/name] is just far to fussy and over the top. [name]Juliet[/name] is already a very elegant, feminine choice. [name]Juliet[/name] even oozes feminine connotations due to [name]Shakespeare[/name]'s play and she’s already gorgeous - I think the extra letters just adds fuss which isn’t needed - thus I dislike [name]Juliette[/name] but love [name]Juliet[/name]. Whereas I think [name]Violette[/name] is gorgeous!
I much prefer the dramatic, stunning and romantic-sounding [name]Juliette[/name]. I know it’s a Nameberry favourite but I just can’t get into [name]Violet[/name]; it seems harsh to me. In both cases though, I like the more streamlined -et ending better.
maltwin1, you pronounce [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Juliette[/name] [very] differently? I say them both joo-lee-ETT… thinking about it [name]Juliette[/name] could be more like zhoo-lee-ETT though. Is that what you meant?
I love love [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Juliette[/name]
Actually its funny, anyone I’ve ever known who used the [name]Juliette[/name] spelling pronounced it the exact same way as if it were [name]Juliet[/name]. I’m not sure if that was an error on their part or if it is truly just a different spelling of the same name. [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Violette[/name], however, I have heard as very different. I’d heard [name]Violette[/name] on a tv show recently (Mr. Selfridge) and I was curious about it so I looked it up. From everything I’ve read it is totally different pronunciation from [name]Violet[/name]. I believe the nameberry page mentions this also. I actually haven’t looked up [name]Juliette[/name] so I’d be curious to see what it says about its pronunciation.
[name]Imo[/name], [name]Juliette[/name] > [name]Violette[/name]. I love [name]Violet[/name], and though I think [name]Violette[/name] looks pretty, the prounication is gross to me. [name]Juliette[/name] is pretty, frilly/feminine, and romantic.
[name]Juliette[/name] for sure! Beautiful and I think this spelling is prettier than [name]Juliet[/name].
I prefer [name]Juliet[/name], actually, because the -ette endings feel too frilly to me. I feel like [name]Juliet[/name] is more of a strong, classic name than [name]Violet[/name], which is sweet but very trendy.
[name]Juliette[/name] gets my vote. I also love [name]Vivienne[/name], [name]Marceline[/name], and [name]Averil[/name]
[name_f]Violette[/name_f] , but only if you pronounce it Vee-Oh-Let. It means purple. So pretty!
I like [name_f]Violette[/name_f] more! I see a lot of Violet’s pop up on nameberry but virtually no Violette’s and I’ve found the same imitation in real life as well. Plus it is such a starkly pretty name!
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is also gorgeous but I’m more a fan of the classic [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and more and more these days the more exotic [name_f]Julieta[/name_f]!
