Virginia!

I’m beginning to love the name [name]Virginia[/name]! I fear the teasing potential however. I think it’s very classy sounding. The only combo I have right now is [name]Virginia[/name] Olevy which is a family name.

What do you think of [name]Virginia[/name]?

Thanks!

Its my grandmother’s name and I always liked it. They sometimes call her [name]Ginny[/name] as a nn.

I like it, but I think the teasing potential is just way too much. I would fear for a [name]Virginia[/name] in a class with teenage boys. It could definitely work great as a middle name though.

It’s unfortunate, but I agree about the teasing potential.

I really like [name]Virginia[/name] and I don’t see “teasing potential”, is it becuase it means “virginal”. I know a teenage [name]Virginia[/name] and she dosen’t get teased. And how do you pronounce Olevy? I don’t think I have ever seen this name.

I personally love the name [name]Virginia[/name]. It seems like such a timeless, pretty classic. love the nn’s [name]Ginny[/name] and [name]Ginger[/name] too.

As far as a I can remember the [name]Virginia[/name] I went to middle and high school didn’t get teased for her name.

Thanks everyone!

karmaismyname - Olevy is an old family name, it was great-great grandmother’s name. Everyone called her [name]Levy[/name]. Its said “oh-LEAVY” as in Leaves. My greatgrandmother was called [name]Little[/name] [name]Levy[/name].

i love the name [name]Virginia[/name]! my great grandmother’s name was [name]Virginia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] (one of the prettiest names in the world in my humble opionion). i’m sad to say that i don’t know any [name]Virginia[/name]'s (besides gran) so i don’t know about the teasing potential.

I love [name]Virginia[/name]! It’s so warm and sweet, but also a name that can be taken seriously. I certainly wouldn’t let the potential teasing issue keep me from using this name. I would reserve that type of ban only for names that elicit a general: what were your parents thinking? Otherwise, any name can be a source of teasing, and you just can’t control how that will play out. The goal and hope is to raise a strong-minded child in a positive and upbeat environment where even if someone were to make the joke, it would just be a laugh and then forgotten, not something traumatic or detrimental.

Yep, I’m with jlm. I don’t think the teasing potential is a big deal at all, really. There are very few names I think are too-teasable. [name]Virginia[/name] is beautiful. What can they say? “[name]Virginia[/name]'s a virgin!” or “[name]Virginia[/name]'s not a virgin”, I mean, really, who cares?

[name]Virginia[/name] is such a great name. [name]Ginny[/name] and [name]Ginger[/name] are cute nicknames. It starts with a V, is feminine but can be serious. I can see it on any type of person of any age. I think it’s a really solid choice that will stand out in a good way. Two thumbs up!

I knew a girl named [name]Virginia[/name] and as a child she went by “ginger,” which was a very cute name for her

I have alittle [name]Virginia[/name] [name]June[/name] and I worried about the teasing potential but there’s really always some type of teasing potential in just about every name. and nn’s are a good way to circumvent teasing. I really love my daughter’s name and get so many compliments on it. I also love that it’s not as common as other classics becaue people are afraid of the teasing potential
