I would pronounce them the same way. I prefer the [name]Vivienne[/name] spelling, it looks very pretty and feminine.

I prefer [name]Vivian[/name] because it’s more straightforward and I also would pronounce them differently. [name]Vivian[/name] is “[name]VIV[/name]-ee-an” and [name]Vivienne[/name] is “viv-ee-ENN” with the accent on the EN. Either way it’s a great name though!

I prefer [name]Vivienne[/name], because I think it’s an updated version of [name]Vivian[/name] which is too old fashioned to me. I also say it slightly differently - [name]Vivian[/name] is vi-VIAN, and [name]Vivienne[/name] is more vi-vee-EN.

I think with [name]Vivienne[/name] you run the risk of people pronouncing it wrongly, with the emphasis on the ENNE. So, simpler is better.

I like [name]Vivienne[/name] or if you feel that is a little long [name]Vivien[/name]. The e instead of a seems more elegant.

Prefer [name]Vivienne[/name], and I pronounce them pretty differently.

[name]Vivian[/name] = VIH-vee-uhn

[name]Vivienne[/name] = vih-vee-EHN, though the ENNE stress is subtler than the VIH stress in [name]Vivian[/name].

[name]Vivian[/name] evokes classic, vintage Hollywood (a la [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Leigh[/name]), where [name]Vivienne[/name] feels more fresh revival, if that makes sense.

I vastly prefer [name]Vivienne[/name] and I do pronounce them differently. [name]Vivian[/name] is more like [name]VIV[/name]-ian, [name]Vivienne[/name] is viv-ee-ENNE.

I also say the two names differently, as others above have described: [name]Vivian[/name] has a strong stress on the first syllable and [name]Vivienne[/name] has a strong stress on the last syllable. To me, that makes them sound quite different.

[name]Vivianne[/name]? Mostly because I don’t like either and if it were my name I’d like to have the option of [name]Anne[/name].

Everything they said. Also, though I’m more embarrassed than I can describe to say so, [name]Vivienne[/name] reminds me too much of [name]Vivi[/name]-anne the little girl on Dance Moms. Not that there’s anything wrong with the little girl – it’s her mom who is absolutely horrible and that makes me hate the name. [name]Vivian[/name] is so different in my mind and is a straightforward, sturdy, classic, respectable name. And I prefer the nn [name]Viv[/name] to [name]Vivi[/name].

[name]Vivienne[/name] I would say with the French pronunciation: viv-ee-ENN.

[name]Vivian[/name] I would say [name]VIV[/name]-ee-en.

[name]Vivien[/name] I pronounce the same as [name]Vivian[/name], but I prefer the [name]Vivien[/name] spelling. It just looks more feminine.

I actually prefer [name]Vivien[/name] - so neither of your two choices! But I do like them, I just happen to prefer [name]Vivien[/name]. I pronounce [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Viv[/name]-ee-in and [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Viv[/name]-ee-enne.
