A former professor just posted an obituary of her relative Volitia “Litty”, and the name really gave me pause. My understanding is it’s pronounced Vuh-lit-ee-uh, but I could be wrong because I have never seen this name before.
I don’t know if I like it, but with the popularity of [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], it seemed like it could fit right in with current trends. What do you think? Does Volitia belong in 2018?
Wow, this is a rare name indeed! Couldn’t find it with Google, neither on Behind the Name! But I think it sounds lovely and the pronunciation is pretty straightforward. The nn Litty sounds like a twist on [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] and is also cute! I think it could definitely still work nowadays!
I’m not sure what I think of it. It reminds me a bit of volatile, but I think that’s only because I’ve never heard of it before. I think it might have the potential the work.
I would be more inclined to pronounce it closer to the word Volition, v”ˈliSH(ə)n, so v”ˈliSH-ee-ah.
It’s an intriguing choice, not one I have heard. As a full name I kind of like it, but not the nn Litty.
Another person who thinks of [name_f]Violetta[/name_f] (which I love and prefer) and the word volatile here. Also, I don’t know why, but I imagine Volitia as something that would fit a villain in a disney movie. No idea why!
