I voted for… almost all of them, haha. I’m so happy that you guys finally settled on a name you love, and [name]Caspian[/name], Zephan, [name]Eve[/name], and [name]Peregrine[/name] are wonderful together!
I’ve always loved [name]Wesley[/name] as a mn for you, and [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Wesley[/name] [name]Donald[/name] works so well. I also loved [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Donald[/name]… would you consider [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Josiah[/name] [name]Donald[/name]? I think that would be equally lovely, and maybe even a bit more interesting. I also voted for [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Ivo[/name] [name]Donald[/name]–it just sounds so dashing and save-the-day!
It was hard to choose just one! I almost followed ashthedreamer’s example, and I would have chosen the same three–[name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Wesley[/name] [name]Donald[/name], [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Ivo[/name] [name]Donald[/name], and [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Donald[/name]. You asked which one sounds best, and I think the two-syllable middle names carry the day. I voted for [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Wesley[/name] [name]Donald[/name] over the other two because I think [name]Wesley[/name] flows a bit better than [name]Joseph[/name] and is more familiar than [name]Ivo[/name]. [name]Peregrine[/name] is a handsome, distinguished name. Congratulations! If you plan to nickname him, do consider “[name]Pippin[/name]”–[name]Peregrin[/name] ("[name]Pippin[/name]") Took, hobbit from The [name]Lord[/name] of the Rings! If I named a son [name]Peregrine[/name], I don’t think I could resist occasionally calling him [name]Pippin[/name].
I am intrigued by the name [name]Ozias[/name]! Is it proniounces Oh-zeye-us? I really like it and I don’t think it is a name I have [name]EVER[/name] seen before. Hmmm. All that to say, I voted for [name]Wesley[/name]. [name]Love[/name] how the combo sounds. But, I may be adding [name]Ozias[/name]/[name]Osias[/name] to our list!![name]LOVE[/name] the meaning.
I adore [name]Ivo[/name]! [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Ivo[/name] [name]Donald[/name] is so handsome and quirky!
I like [name]Wesley[/name] a lot too, but I just can’t pass up an -o name, and [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Ivo[/name] sounds better than [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Wesley[/name], in my opinion.
@melmullins, I’ve been saying Oh-zye-us like you, I think that’s correct but I’m no expert. I noticed it after I did a Nameberry Super Search for boys names ending in S but I think it has been in a couple of blog posts too. It’s very cool, definitely going on a “save for later” list if we don’t use it this time!
@araminta, thanks for your comments too, the [name]Ivo[/name] lovers seem to be very passionate about it!
Thanks for all the votes and comments on this! I am really surprised how the [name]Ivo[/name], [name]Joseph[/name] and [name]Wesley[/name] combos have been running so close!
I like [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Donald[/name] out of the list. However between [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Wesley[/name] [name]Donald[/name] and [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Donald[/name]. I prefer [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Donald[/name]. Good luck!
I like [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]! Very cool. I do like [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Wesley[/name] better, but both are really nice. I guess you could also do [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Ivo[/name] [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name] or [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Ozias[/name] [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name] and avoid the issue, as well…
I got here by the roundabout way…you posted a congratulatory note to a birth announcement, saracita, and that led me to your Babynames list, where I voted for [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Wesley[/name] [name]Donald[/name] as I did some time ago on this poll…and then I came here! I still like [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Wesley[/name] [name]Donald[/name]. [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Donald[/name] is good, though, and I also still like [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Ivo[/name] [name]Donald[/name] and [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Donald[/name]. I just remembered something I hadn’t thought of since after I voted on this poll the first time–if you say “[name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Wesley[/name] [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]” (or “[name]Peregrine[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]”) aloud, the 3 two-syllable, accent-on-the-first-syllable names in a row seem perhaps a little overwhelming. The combo “[name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Donald[/name]” was last on my list, but this consideration makes it more appealing to me. Let me go back to your new Babynames list for a moment…
All right, I noticed that both [name]Quillan[/name] combos and the [name]William[/name] combo are 4 two-syllable, accent-on-the-first-syllable names in a row! I may now be in geek overload! Personally, I would stick with [name]Peregrine[/name]. Good luck, and congratulations, whatever you choose!
No problem! The rhythm is a fairly minor thing, though it bothers name nerds like us, and I really don’t think you could go wrong with any combination you have on the table right now. If you decide to go with just [name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name], I think that would be a fine option. The sound is good. [name]Peregrine[/name] isn’t a bit fusty–the top associations I have are the lovable heroism of [name]Peregrin[/name] Took and the sleek, powerful elegance of the falcon, plus [name]Peregrine[/name] White, the Pilgrim baby–all great! I agree that [name]Donald[/name] is a bit fusty, though there’s nothing wrong with it (I know an 11-year-old [name]Donald[/name], named for his dad and grandpa, and it’s fine on him) and I can understand your wish to break up the incongruity of the two names in combination. I was looking over my “likes” list last night and playing with your combos, trying to break up the rhythms and find something extraordinary. Here’s what I came up with:
[name]Quillan[/name] [name]Ozias[/name] [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]: not on your list, but it uses names you’ve considered and it has a good rhythm
[name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Cornelius[/name] [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]
[name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Erastus[/name] [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]
[name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Ezekiel[/name] [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]
[name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Hosea[/name] [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]: these four all break the rhythm nicely, with three or more syllables and accents on the second syllable.
[name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Lazarus[/name] [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]
[name]Peregrine[/name] Othniel [name]Donald[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]: these both have the accent on the first syllable, but they’re three syllables, and cool, so I threw 'em in anyway. Most of these are pretty far out, but so is [name]Ozias[/name]…I thought one of these might strike your fancy. Again, good luck!
You’re welcome! I hope you can find something that is just exactly right. [name]Just[/name] for trivia, [name]Ozias[/name] is a Biblical name–in the [name]King[/name] [name]James[/name] Bible, it’s a form of [name]Uzziah[/name]. Also, you can find Othniel in [name]Joshua[/name] 15 and Judges 1 and 3; he was the nephew and son-in-law of [name]Caleb[/name] and the first [name]Judge[/name] of [name]Israel[/name]. According to my sources, his name means “force of God,” “strength of God” or “lion of God”–similar, actually, to [name]Ozias[/name]! Sounds like you shouldn’t try too hard to fall in love with it, though Best wishes!
You’re welcome, and thanks for the comments on my signature names! I just figured out how to edit my signature. I plan to add to my profile little by little. For some reason, boys’ names are much more fun for me; I have a hard time finding girls’ names I love. Those three combos are three of my favorites, too. I waffled for a long time between [name]Horatius[/name] and [name]Horatio[/name], and I went with [name]Horatius[/name] because it’s similar to the other S-ending names I like.
[name]Clive[/name] [name]MacDonald[/name] is a nod to two of my favorite authors, C.S. ([name]Clive[/name] Staples) [name]Lewis[/name] and [name]George[/name] [name]MacDonald[/name]. I actually fell in love with [name]Ransom[/name] as a name after reading [name]Lewis[/name]'s Space Trilogy–his hero’s name is [name]Elwin[/name] [name]Ransom[/name], but he goes by [name]Ransom[/name]. (I apologize if you already know this stuff.)
I like your bird reference ideas and how they’re summed up in [name]Peregrine[/name]. Keep on keeping on!
