I’m more of a [name]Katherine[/name] fan, simply because it seems stronger/less demure to me. And, I like the nickname [name]Kate[/name] but not spelled [name]Cate[/name]. Yet, at the same time, [name]Catherine[/name] feels more regal/classic. To me, it’s the same as the [name]Eleanor[/name]/[name]Elinor[/name] debate - both are right but each has her own feel.
I’ll go so far as to say that I prefer [name]Kathryn[/name] to both [name]Katherine[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name]. She’s both strong (K) and soft (ryn) and has equally stunning nicknames of [name]Katie[/name], [name]Kate[/name], and Ryn.
So, in short, it’s just a matter of personal opinion.
I prefer [name]Catherine[/name] personally but I don’t mind [name]Katherine[/name] either.
I just generally prefer C names to K names, and prefer the look of the letter C at the beginning of the name so to me [name]Catherine[/name] looks pretty to me. Plus I associate [name]Katherine[/name] more with people my age and slightly older (twenties-thirties) whereas [name]Catherine[/name] seems more classic to me.
Definitely [name]Catherine[/name]. I have always had a strong aversion to K names, while C is one of my favorite letters. [name]Catherine[/name] seems softer and more feminine, as well as more well rounded than [name]Katherine[/name] which looks more abrupt to me. I can’t really explain why. Plus I sort of like [name]Cate[/name] rather than the overused [name]Kate[/name]–like [name]Cate[/name] [name]Blanchette[/name].
I’m a [name]Catherine[/name]! I love my name, spelling and all, but have had issues with it. [name]Catherine[/name] is seen as more unusual and people tend always spell it with a “K”. Plus, be prepared for all the nicknames! My mom is the only one who calls me by my full name. My family calls me Cath, my friends and hubby call me [name]Cat[/name] and so on. With the “C” spelling the nicknames are more unusual and more likely to be misspelled. My mom has said she secretly wishes I was [name]Katherine[/name], because she didn’t realize how people would just automatically shorten my name. But, when naming me she loves how formal and soft [name]Catherine[/name] looked.
Either way, I [name]LOVE[/name] MY NAME! It’s beautiful and so girly.
Good luck.
I’m a [name]Katherine[/name] so I’m probably biased, but I think it’s more distinguished
