[name]Simon[/name] wins my vote. I love [name]Arthur[/name], but not the nickname Ardie. If he were a little [name]Art[/name] I’d have a hard time choosing!
The nicknames for [name]Arthur[/name] are what keep it from my top lists (i must use nns all the time!), I just can’t find one that I love. I don’t really care for ardie with your other son’s name. I think [name]Vincent[/name], [name]Eloise[/name] (assuming you have three eventually) and [name]Simon[/name] are the best set. I want to like [name]Samson[/name] but maybe I just like [name]Samuel[/name] do much more that it’s hard. Also not the biggest fan of sonny on a boy.
I voted for [name]Arthur[/name] although I don’t really like the nickname Ardie as it sounds too much like [name]Hardie[/name], [name]Art[/name] is so much nicer. I feel that [name]Vincent[/name] and [name]Arthur[/name] go the best together.
I definitely see what you mean, but I’m not too worried about that, he’ll only go by his first name apart from birth certificate and paperwork!
I love [name]Simon[/name] with [name]Vincent[/name]!
The only one I don’t like is [name]Simon[/name].
Between [name]Arthur[/name] and [name]Samson[/name], [name]Arthur[/name] is more traditional but [name]Samson[/name] is more interesting and fun. I could go either way.
dont ruin [name]Samson[/name] by calling him [name]Sonny[/name], [name]Sam[/name] would be a better fate than [name]Sonny[/name]
I voted [name]Simon[/name], though I actually prefer the other two options–I just hated the nicknames. Especially sonny (I visualize the old grandpa in the cartoons calling out ‘Sonnyboy!!!’.
I voted for [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], but I would use [name_m]Art[/name_m] or [name_m]Artie[/name_m] as nns (or just go with the full [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]). Second choice would be [name_m]Simon[/name_m]. Really dislike the nn [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] (I also visualize the old grampa beginning stores “listen here Sonnyboy.”
In the minority here by I really like Ardie as the nickname for [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] I think it sounds fresher than [name_m]Art[/name_m]. I thought I liked Ardie better than [name_m]Artie[/name_m] (which I kind of would). With my accent (American) [name_m]Artie[/name_m] and Ardie are the same. I pronounce a lot of internal ts as ds. (And no don’t make fun of the way I talk. I am not changing the way I talk cause someone here criticizes me.
I don’t minds [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] as much as other people. I thought of [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] and [name_f]Cher[/name_f]. I don’t make the connection with [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] boy. I think [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] is fine. I would worry less about nicknames and more about what formal name you like. I would expect [name_m]Samson[/name_m] to go through a period of wanting to be called something (like [name_u]Sam[/name_u] or [name_m]Samson[/name_m]). Nicknames change a lot, names change less.
Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!
Thanks! I find [name_m]Artie[/name_m] a little difficult to say with my accent too, it just turns into Ardie. Yes I wouldn’t have a problem using [name_m]Samson[/name_m] or [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] without a nickname if it suits them better! I usually tend to lean towards nicknames though.
