Vote on our two finalists for #2!

We’ve narrowed down our choices for our second daughter, due in February, to two! Please tell me which you like better and why. First daughter is Felicity, last name sounds similar to Geyser. Both middles are honor names. Thanks!

  • Blythe Elizabeth
  • Sylvie Lucia

Both are beautiful names and both are great combos - this was so hard! I like [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] more with sister [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] (Sylvie is a bit samey in sounds), but like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] more with surname. I ended up voting for [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], so interesting and rarely used, but could easily have gone the other way!

[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is beautiful!!

The meanings of [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] make them perfect together, but maybe a little too perfect? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think you will want any more children in the future, and would you feel obliged to come up with a third “happy” name if so? If you won’t feel painted into a corner (and really, most non-name nerds probably won’t even clock the similarity) then my vote goes to [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]. It’s distinct in sound but cohesive in feel with big sister’s name.

I absolutely adore the name [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and think it works well with [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], but I agree with others who have said that the sounds are a little bit more similar. Still a gorgeous pairing though. I’d love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] even more than [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f].

We’re 50/50 on whether we’ll have a 3rd in the future - I’m 36 now, so definitely not a guarantee in a few years when we’re ready to decide. Regardless, we wouldn’t feel boxed in to another happiness name at all. I like that the connection between [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is there but I think pretty subtle for most people (our car salesman a few weeks ago asked what [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] meant!), and ultimately I want each kid to have a name we love on its own merit rather than in relation to siblings. We do have a boy name picked out if we ever have one: [name_m]Hart[/name_m] [name_u]Julian[/name_u].

I was hesitant about [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] just because I thought the back-to-back vowel sounds were a little awkward!

I love [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]! I think that is such a cool name. [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] feels very modern and fresh to me. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is timeless and classic. So combining [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] feels like a great blend.

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] I like as a nickname for [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] but I’m not a big fan of it just as the stand alone first name.

Oh wow, [name_m]Hart[/name_m] [name_u]Julian[/name_u] is just stunning! :heart_eyes:You have great taste.

[name_m]Hart[/name_m] would actually round out the “happy” set nicely, due to sounding like the word “heart”. But it also goes brilliantly with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] due to the nature connection. So you really can’t go wrong!

I think I’m still leaning just slightly towards [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] for you though. It’s delightfully unexpected but still a lovely fit with classic [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is really beautiful and has been on my own list, but the sounds are just a tad rhymey and I do see it trending quite strongly in the next 5 or so years. It’s already starting to pick up quite a bit of pace here in the UK.

[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is absolutely gorgeous!!! I also feel like [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is a name that could suit pretty much anyone! [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] also feels a bit trickier to say in my opinion because of them sharing lots of sounds, whereas [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] flows excellently!

I can see why you’re having trouble deciding! Both of these names are fantastic! I don’t think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] are too similar. The only thing for me is that [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] are quite different– one very girly and lacy, the other bright and frills-free. I wouldn’t want one sister to think the other sister got a much better name, and it seems like this would be easier to avoid with more similar names. But I love [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]! And the meanings are so perfect!!
Either way, both of your daughters will have exquisite names.

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is my favorite! I like [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] too, it’s got that same chirpy, elfish quality, but [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is more melodic and classically feminine.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite for you remains [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]. I do think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] works better than [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as the vowel sounds seem to run into each other. Also, I think [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] has a gentle and warm beauty the same as [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] does, so see them as quite complimentary.

[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is absolutely stunning!

I’m actually so envious of this name [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is breathtaking and ever so sparkly. [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is a gorgeous soft whimsical name. and shares the same meaning ‘happy’ as [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] which I think ties them together wonderfully. [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] has to me this Wuthering Heights, sprawling meadows [name_f]Victoriana[/name_f] vibe which is just gorgeous and partnered with the regal [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] it’s the most delightful name. I’m in love with [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] sister.

I’m experiencing name envy with this sibling set honestly congrats :two_hearts:

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! [name_u]Poll[/name_u] was pretty close! But after talking with my husband more and thinking about it, I think we are pretty much settled on [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] now! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband kinda went back and forth on whether [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] sounded too nicknamey/diminutive to him (even though it’s not! He knows it’s just the [name_u]French[/name_u] form). We realized that since [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] has a one-syllable middle after my husband’s late mom, with [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] there’s even more symmetry in that we have 4 syllables/1 syllable and 1 syllable/4 syllables, plus of course them both being slightly antiquated word-names meaning happy with middles honoring women in the family (Elizabeth was my grandmother, and it was also my own middle name before I got married). I love the connections between them but that they still feel quite distinct and stand on their own. Thanks again!!

Sylvie & Felicity would make for the cutest sister set! the sounds match towards the ends, but for me it’s the beginning sounds that really matter. So Felicity & Sylvie are just darling together, in my opinion :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
