Of those I prefer [name]Eliot[/name] (although my preferred spelling is [name]Elliot[/name]), but ONLY for a boy, I can’t stand the name for a girl.
Sorry.
I voted for a spelling thinking that [name]Eliott[/name] was for a boy. I prefer that spelling of [name]Eliott[/name] out of your other spellings, although my personal naming style I am not into naming girls with boy names, but everybody has their own style. I will say that from your signature you have some real gems there: [name]Daphne[/name] (one of my top 5), [name]Fiona[/name], [name]Elsie[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] (in my top 5), [name]Chandler[/name] (if this is for a boy I think it’s super handsome), [name]Emmett[/name] (like it), and [name]Larkin[/name] is really cute for a girl. I also like your other names in your signature of [name]Thatcher[/name], [name]Fletcher[/name] and Thorton.
Please don’t use [name]Elliot[/name] on a girl! [name]Just[/name] because it was on Scrubs, doesn’t mean its okay. And [name]Elyot[/name] makes it look like it should be said el-yot. It looks really bad imo. I’m not trying to be rude, but honesty when it comes to names is important to me.
[name]Elyot[/name] is awful.
I totally forgot that there was a girl named [name]Eliot[/name] on Scrubs. Haha!
Please, please don’t give this handsome boy name to a little girl. Plus, the spelling would be [name]Elliot[/name] or [name]Elliott[/name].
I would advise you to avoid the trendy “y” and spell it correctly for either gender ([name]Eliot[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], and [name]Elliott[/name] are all legitimate spellings). [name]Even[/name] better, may I suggest you give your daughter the similar form of [name]Eliette[/name] (French female name).
My favourite spelling for [name]Elliott[/name] isn’t there - two Ls and two Ts - to me it just looks more complete that way. However since that wasn’t an option I went with [name]Eliott[/name], because [name]Eliot[/name] reminds me of pilot and [name]Elyot[/name] (+variations) is awful.
[name]Elyot/name with the Y spellings the takes on an unusual and unattractive shape. It has a jumbled appearance and doesn’t lseem to resemble the more solid [name]Eliot/name at all.
Of all the spellings of [name]Eliot[/name], the most feminine to me is [name]Elliott[/name]. It reminds me of [name]Ellie[/name] and [name]Odette[/name].
I agree with this. [name]Elyot[/name] is ridiculous! Adding random Y’s to names doesn’t make them more feminine, it just makes them misspelled.
I believe [name]Elliot[/name] is the most common spelling when used as a girl’s name. I would stick to that. I wouldn’t cut out an “L”, the double "L"s make it seem more similar to [name]Ellie[/name]/[name]Ella[/name], which makes it seem slightly more feminine.
I second this.
I wouldn’t name a girl [name]Elliott[/name]. But if you must, I would use the traditional spelling ([name]Elliott[/name] or [name]Elliot[/name]) - stay away from the trendy “y” - which just makes a classic name look tacky.
I would point out that an ongoing theme for [name]Elliot[/name] [name]Reid[/name] on scrubs was that she was always trying to please her father - who (I believe) wished that she had been a boy.
I was going to say, what about adding an e at e end of [name]Eliott[/name]. [name]Eliette[/name], even better! But I don’t mind Eliotte better than any of the y spellings…
[name]Eliot[/name] is not a girls name no matter how you spell it. Does spelling [name]George[/name] “Jiorje” or [name]Jacob[/name] “Jaiykebbe” make them feminine? No? It just makes it look like their parents can’t spell? Yeah, same applies to [name]Eliot[/name].
As a few of you stated, I too, like [name]Eliette[/name]. Is it pronounced any differently?
I assume it’s pronounced [name]Ellie[/name]-et instead of [name]El[/name]-ee-ot.
I really like [name]Eliette[/name]. I’m assuming it’s pronounced like @augusta_lee said, [name]Ellie[/name]-et. What do you all think?
It’s pronounced el-ee-et, and it is very pretty.
I like this MUCH better than [name]Eliott[/name] (however you want to spell it) for a girl. [name]Eliette[/name] is very pretty.
