After reading names on here for hours, I am finally posting! We are loving the name [name]Walker[/name], but I’m afraid people will think [name]Walker[/name] [name]Texas[/name] [name]Ranger[/name]. I haven’t found another boys name I love, but I don’t want our son to be teased his whole life. If we do go with [name]Walker[/name], we would choose a more conservative MN, maybe [name]Ryan[/name]. My name is very generic, [name]Lauren[/name], and I have always hated having lots of friends with my same name! Please let me know what you think!
Kids your son’s age probably won’t know about [name]Walker[/name] [name]Texas[/name] [name]Ranger[/name]. [name]Even[/name] if they do, it’s not a bad association, so I wouldn’t worry much about teasing.
[name]Walker[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] is a very handsome name. If you both love it, go for it!
I know a handful of Walkers, and they’ve never had problems with their names before. [name]Walker[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] sounds fine, but I thought I’d mention [name]Walker[/name] [name]Charles[/name] popped up into my head at the moment.
[name]Walker[/name] , love it!!!
I’ve taught several Walkers (at the high school level) and none of them seemed to ever have any problems getting teased for their name.
I think that [name]Walker[/name] is a handsome name. I am not aware of the [name]Texas[/name] ranger connection. I would have thought his name may have been confused more with [name]Walter[/name].
[name]Walker[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] is a nice name. What nickname would you give him?
Thanks everyone! I really like the name, but I’m not sure of nicknames. I’m one of those few people who loves nick names! The only thing i can think of is walk, and that sounds kind of silly to me. I like the name [name]Easton[/name], and [name]Sutton[/name] a lot, but my husband doesn’t like either. It was almost impossible to name our daughter, we couldn’t agree on any names! Our daughters name is [name]Hayden[/name] [name]Reese[/name], and we call her hay hay, so I want our son to have a very strong name, that can’t be unisex at all. At least we still have awhile!
If you are near Wisconsin or interested in politics, the name [name]Walker[/name] may remind people of the controversial current WI governor by that name instead of the [name]Texas[/name] [name]Ranger[/name]. But hopefully those associations would be temporary just like the TV show associations, whereas getting to use a name you love is a much more permanent thing.
I love it. It’s a great name.
I’m surprised no one has brought this obvious one up yet - [name]George[/name] [name]WALKER[/name] [name]Bush[/name]! LOL I’m sure this would be fine if your son plans on living his life in a red state, but if he lived in a blue state people might make assumptions about his political upbringing. I agree that [name]Walker[/name] is a cool name, but to me it will always have a twanginess tainted by [name]Bush[/name]. [name]Walter[/name] sounds similar and is still relatively uncommon.
My grandfather’s name was [name]Walker[/name] [name]Reed[/name]. I’ve always loved the name and plan to use it with my first son. [name]Walker[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] is a handsome, timeless name. I don’t associate the name with [name]Walker[/name] [name]Texas[/name] [name]Ranger[/name] and I doubt kids your sons age will either. If you love it, go for it!
