Hello All,
We are expecting baby number four. We like family names. If [name_u]Baby[/name_u] is a boy we are thinking we might like to name the little guy [name_m]Warner[/name_m], after my husband’s Grandpa [name_m]Werner[/name_m] (that was his first name, his middle and last name aren’t useable). I like the name and think it fits well with our other kid’s names ([name_u]August[/name_u], [name_f]Corinne[/name_f], and [name_m]Simon[/name_m]). My husband fears a kid named [name_m]Warner[/name_m] would be picked on though. What do you think of the name [name_m]Warner[/name_m] for a little boy? Thank you for your help!
I don’t think he’d be picked on!! I know someone named [name_m]Warren[/name_m], I feel like that’s very similar. I think it’s a very usable name and fits well with your sibset. Hopefully hubby will come around.
I think it’s a warm, friendly and confident name esp in a non-Australian accent (mine), which I’m assuming it would be. ([name_m]Oz[/name_m] accent would sound too blokey imo.)
My instinct is to suggest [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] or [name_u]Jude[/name_u] but I like how [name_m]Warner[/name_m] balances the names and makes them more solid than ultra hip.
I think it fits well with your sibset and I don’t think he would be picked on. It’s a great way to honour a loved one.
I think it’s adorable and I don’t think he would be picked on.
I don’t think he’d be picked it on, it just feels a little dated to my ear. Logically speaking though it does follow some rising trends without being super popularity yet. It would be an interesting choice!
It’s not my favorite but it’s ok. I think because it reminds me of the sleazy character in legally blonde, [name_m]Warner[/name_m] [name_m]Huntington[/name_m] III
I don’t think a little [name_m]Warner[/name_m] might be picked on, but I immediately thought of the entertainment company [name_m]Warner[/name_m] Bros.
It reminds me too much of the word “warn.”
Thank you for your replies everyone. They have helped a lot. My husband was surprised to hear that people thought the name would work and he is reconsidering it:)
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] is actually on our list as well (after my Aunt [name_f]Judy[/name_f]). When I think of [name_u]Jude[/name_u] vs. [name_m]Warner[/name_m] though I do feel that [name_m]Warner[/name_m] would make the sibling set seem more “seriously-we-just-like-family-names”, whereas [name_u]Jude[/name_u] would make the sibling set feel a little trendy. My husband is coming around to [name_m]Warner[/name_m], so we will see. Thank you!
I think [name_m]Warner[/name_m] (derived from given name [name_m]Werner[/name_m], so it makes perfect sense) makes for a nice namesake after his great-grandfather, [name_m]Werner[/name_m]. The four name in the sibset that you would then have sound and look great together, too.
Personally, my first thought was to [name_m]Warner[/name_m] Bros, which isn’t a bad association at all, but kind of nice really. I don’t think a [name_m]Warner[/name_m] would run into any particular tormenting issues regarding his name though. Ultimately, if you do decide it’s too much for a first, it would be great in the middle.
