While I quite obviously love the name [name]Raphael[/name], I think with [name]Constantine[/name] you get a very strong Byzantine vibe. The florid polysyllabic [name]Raphael[/name] + florid polysllabic [name]Constantine[/name] is a little much, even with the crisp, short sound of [name]Loki[/name] in the middle to soften things.

[name]Warren[/name] is certainly an unexpected choice, but I think from a strict flow/metrical perspective [name]Warren[/name] [name]Loki[/name] [name]Constantine[/name] T***** (2-2-3-2). I think it’s quirky cool, and I think [name]Warren[/name] on its own pairs well with your surname.

I know that [name]Damien[/name] [name]Quillon[/name] Frode has a great deal of meaning to the both of you, but if it’s up for negotiation I like the sound of [name]Warren[/name] [name]Loki[/name] [name]Constantine[/name] more.

I much prefer [name]Raphael[/name] to [name]Warren[/name], and I voted for [name]Raphael[/name], but the combo [name]Raphael[/name] [name]Loki[/name] [name]Constantine[/name] is really a whole lot of name. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Raphael[/name], but it needs something to tone it down a little in the middle, and [name]Loki[/name] [name]Constantine[/name] is not that. All three names are very big, if you know what I mean, and [name]Warren[/name] is a bit simpler. Having said all that, I still prefer [name]Raphael[/name]- it’s just such a great name! I think [name]Ray[/name] could work as a nickname [name]Raphael[/name], and that might make the combo a little more down-to-earth.

oh not [name]Ray[/name]! I had a horribly abusive ex boyfriend named [name]Ray[/name] and I just couldn’t do that.

I do understand that all of them are big names but since all the names picked have some sort of significance, I can’t and won’t be changing the middles any time soon, but thank you! The bigness of all the names doesn’t bother us too much as their middles.

[name]Blade[/name] – I always like the way you answer things. It gives me a very concise descriptions of your opinion. I also find [name]Warren[/name] to be quirky and cool for nowadays, but next to the other names on my list, I almost feel it isn’t enough :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you both! Would love more replies.

Ooh, both good names. But [name]Raphael[/name] [name]Loki[/name] [name]Constantin[/name] is amazing! [name]Love[/name] love love it! I also like [name]Loki[/name] in the first spot, I think it’s cute, but I get what you’re saying.

While I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Raphael[/name], I voted for [name]Warren[/name] [name]Loki[/name] [name]Constantine[/name] after reading your explanations. I think it would be difficult to escape the [name]Rafe[/name]/Raph nicknames and you seem to really like the short forms for [name]Warren[/name].

I do really hate those nicknames :stuck_out_tongue:

[name]Do[/name] you guys think my husband might be right when he says we could make Hail work for [name]Raphael[/name] (we say it rah-fay-el with a sort h sound in there)? That or make the full name work with no nicknames?

I love the name [name]Raphael[/name]. It is a pleasure to say, has piazza and a touch of fun. For those reasons - and because middles don’t get used day-to-day - I voted for it.

That said, the over all name flows better with [name]Warren[/name]. Three middles is a lot and so [name]Warren[/name], which is that little bit shorter and less dramatic, eases you in more gently.

Wen/[name]Ren[/name] are great nns. And, I think if you can’t find a nn you like for [name]Raphael[/name] that tips the scales to [name]Warren[/name].

Other possible nns for [name]Raphael[/name] are [name]Ra[/name], [name]El[/name], Raffa, Roo, [name]Hal[/name].

Good luck.

[name]Thomas[/name] is the surname not another middle, just for clarification.

I would never have though of [name]Ra[/name] as a nickname for [name]Raphael[/name]! Neither one of us go towards the Egyptian pantheon, but that would be cool.

[name]Ra[/name] is an amazing nickname!

I went to school with a [name]Ra[/name]. It was his full name and it was very cool. It would make a great nn for [name]Raphael[/name]!

Sorry I thought there were three middles! [name]Raphael[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] is lovely and so, to be honest, is [name]Warren[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]! You can’t lose.

My husband also think [name]Ra[/name] is a very awesome nickname! Well that makes me like the thought of [name]Raphael[/name] a bit more

Thanks for the responses so far!

I voted for [name]Raphael[/name] because [name]Warren[/name] [name]Loki[/name] makes me think “War ‘n’ Chaos”

[name]Hi[/name] Dantea, I find [name]Raphael[/name] much more interesting and bolder than the somewhat “tired” [name]Warren[/name]. I don’t know if you would want a [name]Damien[/name] and a [name]Warren[/name] in your family and [name]Warren[/name] doesn’t have the same exotic flair as your other names. The only [name]Warren[/name] I know is that actor [name]Warren[/name] Beatty who makes my skin crawl (he was such a womanizer in his day!) whereas [name]Raphael[/name] has an artistic and creative image. I think you could get away with [name]Ra[/name] or even Hael/[name]Hale[/name] as a nn.

I voted for [name]Warren[/name] because I think a 2-syllable name flows a bit better overall and just with your last name.
I also adore the nn [name]Ren[/name]. (That way you still keep somewhat of a Renaissance nod through the nickname?)

[name]Raphael[/name] just Looks like a lot of name to me, even though it is only 3 syllables. I suppose it is maybe because it has such a history to live up to? It is still a nice sounding name though, especially if you find a nn you like.

My last thought is that [name]Damien[/name] will probably always be my absolute favorite of your choices so I could understand if you were concerned about starting a possible trend of ending with ‘en’ names.

Out of those two, I prefer [name]Raphael[/name] over [name]Warren[/name] but I like [name]Damien[/name] much much more! It used to be my favorite boy name but I got sick of people telling me it sounded “demonic” so I scrapped it. I’ve always liked [name]Loki[/name] too, it has such a cool sound and modern feel… I wouldn’t worry about the mythology behind it, most people won’t even know the story or think of the [name]Marvel[/name] character. I actually think of [name]Matt[/name] [name]Damon[/name]'s character in Dogma when I say it. Same with [name]Barnaby[/name].

[name]Warren[/name] is one of those hidden in plain sight type names, isn’t it? It would make my day to meet a 10-year-old [name]Warren[/name].

That said, with a nice straightforward surname like [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Raphael[/name] seems like an excellent choice too (and perhaps more in keeping with the other names you have on your list, though like you that doesn’t really bother me- just a criterion to consider if you’re having trouble choosing). When I was little there was a boy on my street called [name]Raffi[/name], short for [name]Raphael[/name]- he got some flak because of the kid’s folk singer, but I liked it and still do! Ral could also work, depending on accent.

I haven’t read or seen any of the DC/[name]Marvel[/name] versions of [name]Loki[/name], but I do think of [name]Loki[/name] as an amoral trickster (not evil, per se), decidedly sly, an element of chaos in the world. It would give me pause to see it on a human- not as extreme as Chaos or Havoc as names, but headed in that direction. Definitely safer in the middle!
