I’m writing a story where the MC is a demigod. For some reason I’m very drawn to water-based names for him. I’m looking for something of tribal origin (native American, hawaiian, etc.) with a water based meaning (sea, ocean, rain, etc)
[name_f]Moana[/name_f] (sorry it means water in a native hawaiian language)
[name_u]Kai[/name_u]
Desea (deh-say-uh) wish/ocean in unknown language
that’s all i got update more later
Not too sure on the origins but I made a list a while back that I never used, but maybe you’ll find use from it
Aedre: “rippling water”
Araxie: “a river said to inspire poetic expression”
[name_u]Douglas[/name_u]: “dark water”
[name_m]Marius[/name_m]: “of the sea”
[name_m]Muir[/name_m]: “sea” or “moor”
[name_f]Noelani[/name_f]: “mist of [name_f]Heaven[/name_f]”
[name_u]Tahoe[/name_u]: “edge of the lake”
[name_f]Undine[/name_f]: “of the waves”
[name_u]Wade[/name_u]: “river crossing”
dont have anything tribal but…
[name_m]Nero[/name_m]/[name_f]Nera[/name_f] - means “water/waters” in Greek. [name_f]Nera[/name_f] could be a nickname for [name_f]Nerissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Thalassa[/name_f]
Limne (lee-mnee) - lake in Greek, sounds unusual enough
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Naia[/name_f]
