Ways to get to Io

I have always loved outer space, and one of my favorite names has been [name]Io[/name] (one of [name]Jupiter[/name]'s moons), but I scratched it off my list ages ago because I thought it was just too ‘out there’. After reading about the name on Bewitching Names the other day (Bewitching Names: Io), I’m thinking about it again, and it occurred to me that it would make an awesome nickname!

Since you guys are all so great at this, I thought I’d ask for help!

So far I can only think of:

[name]Isla[/name] (which I’m not so crazy about)
[name]Imogene[/name] (I love this name but only if it’s pronounced right)
[name]Ione[/name] & [name]Iona[/name] (kind of obvious)

Can you guys come up with some more unique ways to get [name]Io[/name]?

This is probably out there but maybe [name]Iolani[/name]. Its a Hawaiian name that basically means heavenly hawk/hawk from heaven. [name]Io[/name] is the Hawaiian [name]Hawk[/name] and lani means heavenly. It’s pronounced ee-o-la-nee.

Initials, [name]Irene[/name] [name]Opal[/name] or similar?

I love [name]Io[/name]! I love that it reminds me of [name]Jupiter[/name]'s moon, too. I have toyed around with the idea of [name]Violet[/name] nn [name]Io[/name]. I’m sure I’ll use it at some point (along with [name]Vivi[/name] and Vio and [name]Lettie[/name]/[name]Etta[/name], etc.), even though I intend to mainly use [name]Violet[/name] if I ever get to use the name. :slight_smile:

I’m not sure about others, I think [name]Briony[/name], [name]Calliope[/name], and [name]Hermione[/name] are good ideas. :slight_smile: I like [name]Ione[/name], too…

[name]Ione[/name] is what I immediately thought of, which I think is lovely. Also, [name]Iolani[/name] and [name]Hermione[/name]

I’d go with either [name]Ione[/name] or [name]Iona[/name]. They make the most sense as a full name for [name]Io[/name] and aren’t so unheard of that people would trip over the pronunication/spelling.

Ooh, I love [name]Iolani[/name]! I never heard of that name before. [name]Ione[/name] and [name]Iona[/name] probably do make the most sense though.

[name]Iola[/name] gets ripped up in the Nameberry blurb but I rather like it.

[name]Iolana[/name] gets a nicer one and I like that too. (But not more!)

[name]Indigo[/name] could work too?

As soon as I saw this post I thought “[name]Indigo[/name]”! It’s on my list of names that I love but didn’t get picked, I love the nn [name]Indi[/name] as well :slight_smile: I also love someone else’s suggestion of [name]Hermione[/name], that name would also be on my list except I’m a huge [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] nut.

[name]Ianthe[/name] could probably work, maybe with a middle name that starts with an O even? I don’t know.
