I love the name [name_f]Kate[/name_f], but my predicament is that my lifelong best friends name is [name_f]Katie[/name_f]. We came to a falling out about four years ago and I don’t see her anymore but it would be so weird to name my daughter [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] or just [name_f]Kate[/name_f] in light of that, even though I never see her. Is there any way to get to the nickname [name_f]Kate[/name_f] other than the obvious. I love the name [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and just [name_f]Kate[/name_f] but am not sure if I should even go there Which is too bad because it’s a beautiful and classic name.
Sounds like it might be best not to go there from what you’re saying : / ?
If you’re wanting to keep trying for [name_f]Kate[/name_f], maybe try…
[name_f]Acacia[/name_f] (gets you to the K sound, T middle name?)
[name_f]Cadence[/name_f] (get to [name_u]Cade[/name_u], and sort of to [name_f]Kate[/name_f], maybe especially with a T middle name)
[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] and spell it [name_f]Cait[/name_f]/[name_f]Cate[/name_f] for more distance?
[name_f]Katelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Kateri[/name_f] (a saint’s name, I think the pronunciation situation is similar to [name_f]Katerina[/name_f], below)
[name_f]Katerina[/name_f] (pronounced like [name_f]Kat[/name_f], but [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is right there in the spelling), or [name_f]Ekaterina[/name_f] for something bolder.
[name_f]Leocadia[/name_f] (You can get [name_u]Cade[/name_u]…and from there to [name_f]Cate[/name_f] kind of sort of)
If you like the feel of [name_f]Kate[/name_f] but want to get further away from it and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is a reasonable choice to consider.
I love [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] I never ever would have thought of that! And it works because I am looking for a name where [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is a feasible nn without being obvious. So it doesn’t look like I named my daughter after this person. Thanks so much it’s a good start!
Although, all in all it’s probably best to love another name
If you can find another one (and we’re really talking more about another nickname than full name) then good, but if you can’t then not to worry.
[name_f]Glad[/name_f] you like [name_f]Acacia[/name_f]! Besides [name_f]Kate[/name_f] (maybe, with a T middle), There’s [name_u]Casey[/name_u], [name_u]Kay[/name_u], [name_m]Ace[/name_m], and Sia ([name_f]Cia[/name_f]) if you like any of those.
[name_f]Arcadia[/name_f] would be a nice choice, it’s one of my personal favorites!
I like the suggestions of [name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f] and [name_f]Katerina[/name_f]. [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] is a pretty name, but I wouldn’t use the nickname [name_f]Kate[/name_f] for it. Too far of a reach, in my opinion.
