Ok, so my boyfriend likes the name [name]Maggie[/name]. I do too ([name]Maggie[/name] [name]Smith[/name] is a hero of mine)… The only thing is, I don’t know a way to get to the nickname [name]Maggie[/name] with using [name]Margaret[/name] or Magdelena. Now I like both these names but [name]Margaret[/name] is my mom’s close friend and neighbor and [name]Magdalena[/name] is long and so is my boyfriend’s surname. Also we are not religious at all…is that weird? I would use just [name]Maggie[/name] but her last name would end in an “ie” sound. I’m not into rhyming names unless it sounds badass haha.
Magnolia was the first name that popped into my head.
Maggie can also work for Megan, although it is a bit of a stretch. But, it makes sense, seeing Megan is actually a variation of Margeret anyways. Marguerite, Madigan, Madge, Madrigal, Marigold, Mahogany, Margarida, Margeux and Marjory also might work, though it would be a stretch.
Also, I don’t think using Magdelena implies you are religious to most who aren’t name nerds or are preachors/pastors/priests. For the general public it’s just a pretty, rhythmic way to get the nickname Maggie or an original full name for Maddie.
[name]Margo[/name], [name]Margarita[/name], [name]Margaretta[/name], [name]Madigan[/name], [name]Magali[/name], or [name]Margery[/name], [name]Marguerite[/name] are also other ideas.
I think you can get away with the nn [name]Maggie[/name] with names like [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Margaux[/name] & [name]Marguerite[/name]…these are my favorite ‘m’ names!
My daughter due in [name]March[/name] is [name]Margaret[/name] with the nickname [name]Maggie[/name]!
Other alternatives to [name]Maggie[/name]- [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Margo[/name], [name]Marjorie[/name], and [name]Megan[/name]. My favorite out of those would have to be [name]Magnolia[/name].
Thanks for the replies! I like [name]Marigold[/name] and Magdelen (not as clunky as Magdelena)… Also I am partial to [name]Mary[/name] [name]Agatha[/name]. Or maybe [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Agatha[/name]… much to think about.
