Ways to get to Maggie

Ok, so my boyfriend likes the name [name]Maggie[/name]. I do too ([name]Maggie[/name] [name]Smith[/name] is a hero of mine)… The only thing is, I don’t know a way to get to the nickname [name]Maggie[/name] with using [name]Margaret[/name] or Magdelena. Now I like both these names but [name]Margaret[/name] is my mom’s close friend and neighbor and [name]Magdalena[/name] is long and so is my boyfriend’s surname. Also we are not religious at all…is that weird? I would use just [name]Maggie[/name] but her last name would end in an “ie” sound. I’m not into rhyming names unless it sounds badass haha.

Any ideas for me?

Magnolia was the first name that popped into my head.

Maggie can also work for Megan, although it is a bit of a stretch. But, it makes sense, seeing Megan is actually a variation of Margeret anyways. Marguerite, Madigan, Madge, Madrigal, Marigold, Mahogany, Margarida, Margeux and Marjory also might work, though it would be a stretch.

Also, I don’t think using Magdelena implies you are religious to most who aren’t name nerds or are preachors/pastors/priests. For the general public it’s just a pretty, rhythmic way to get the nickname Maggie or an original full name for Maddie.

[name]Marigold[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]/[name]Mabel[/name] [name]Agnes[/name]
Or just plain [name]Maggie[/name]!

I like [name]Magnolia[/name]… I know the boyfriend won’t though. He is just going to have to settle for naming a pet [name]Maggie[/name].

I like [name]Magnolia[/name] a lot.

I like [name]Margaux[/name] or [name]Marguerite[/name] more than [name]Margaret[/name].

I could possibly see a [name]Marigold[/name] NN [name]Maggie[/name] but its a bit of a stretch.

I have known Megans NN [name]Maggie[/name] and I like that. [name]Megan[/name] is well-known but not super-ultra popular at this point.

[name]Margo[/name], [name]Margarita[/name], [name]Margaretta[/name], [name]Madigan[/name], [name]Magali[/name], or [name]Margery[/name], [name]Marguerite[/name] are also other ideas.

I agree, but my thought was that if [name]Margaret[/name] can become [name]Maggie[/name], then why not [name]Marigold[/name]?

[name]Magenta[/name] maybe?

I think you can get away with the nn [name]Maggie[/name] with names like [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Margaux[/name] & [name]Marguerite[/name]…these are my favorite ‘m’ names!

[name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Magdalen[/name], [name]Magdalene[/name]?

My daughter due in [name]March[/name] is [name]Margaret[/name] with the nickname [name]Maggie[/name]!
Other alternatives to [name]Maggie[/name]- [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Margo[/name], [name]Marjorie[/name], and [name]Megan[/name]. My favorite out of those would have to be [name]Magnolia[/name].

My first thoguht was [name]Megan[/name],

[name]Marigold[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Margo[/name]

Or something like [name]Martha[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Madeline[/name] [name]Geneva[/name], (bad examples but you get the idea!)

Thanks for the replies! I like [name]Marigold[/name] and Magdelen (not as clunky as Magdelena)… Also I am partial to [name]Mary[/name] [name]Agatha[/name]. Or maybe [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Agatha[/name]… much to think about.

I know a [name]Megan[/name] that goes by [name]Maggie[/name]…

Wasn’t hating it, sorry if I sounded critical - it’s a bit of a stretch but rather cute!

Oh, I didn’t think you were criticizing! I think it’s a stretch too
