[name_f]My[/name_f] middle name is Cintura. It means “waist” in Italian. It was my grandmother’s middle name, my great grandmother’s, and so on. I’ve hated it my whole life. I honestly despise it. I think it’s just so ugly. I’ve gotten comments about it all through school, mostly teasingly.
However I feel guilty not keeping my the tradition. Is there a name similar to Cintura that isn’t so appalling?
Any first name possibilities that maybe make it sound nice ? I was thinking [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] Cintura
Thoughts ?

I’m from Mexico and it also means “waist”
que mala suerte! I think you can honor the name by shorting it to a simple but pretty [name_f]Cindy[/name_f] or [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f]? Cintura is also like Artura? So maybe as an honor you can go for [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] Artura and still keep the tradition but change the name!
For non-Latin speakers think of naming your kid [name_f]Ella[/name_f] Stomach! Best of luck hopefully you’ll find the right replacement, though I would suggest just dropping the name as a whole, it’s never good to keep a name when you don’t love it, tradition or not!

If you hate the name, then I wouldn’t keep it. [name_f]Keturah[/name_f] came to mind as an alternative. [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]Keturah[/name_f] sounds stunning to me

My grandmother would sign her name “[name_u]Maria[/name_u] C. “ so I’m thinking a middle name that starts with C, so little [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] can sign “[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] C.” I’m loving your suggestions so far though ! They really are stunning.
I’d prefer Italian / ethnic sounding names, but I’m open to anything.

I like the idea of using [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cinzia[/name_f], the Italian form of the name, because they begin with the S sound instead of the K sound like, I am assuming Cintura is pronounced. They are both three syllables and end in a short A sound. For all these reasons [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cinzia[/name_f] make a good substitute for Cintura.
I love the suggestion of [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]Keturah[/name_f] it’s so pretty.
