[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I would love to honor our moms in a future daughter’s name.
[name_f]My[/name_f] mom is [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] (goes by [name_f]Tori[/name_f]).
His mom is [name_u]Jodi[/name_u].
So far, I thought of:
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (not quite [name_u]Jodi[/name_u])
Our style for first names is definitely vintage. I prefer short names, and he prefers long.
Any suggestions about how to honor a [name_f]Tori[/name_f] and [name_u]Jodi[/name_u]?
So from the sounds of it your happy to use [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] as a honour in her own right but have some difficulties with [name_u]Jodi[/name_u]. [name_u]Jodi[/name_u] isn’t your style. According to nameberry [name_u]Jodi[/name_u] comes from [name_u]Joan[/name_u] & [name_f]Judith[/name_f] so you could potentially use one of them as a way to honour [name_u]Jodi[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Joan[/name_u] could work she’s a vintage choice. I think she has the right qualities to make a revival she has a similar vibe to [name_u]June[/name_u] which appears to be attracting some attention and is rather sweet. I think [name_f]Judith[/name_f] is very classic but could be seen as dated. Or alternatively you could use ‘jo’ names like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Joelle[/name_f], [name_f]Josette[/name_f], [name_f]Josepha[/name_f] or [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]. If none of that fits the bill you could look at four letter j names to honour [name_u]Jodi[/name_u] like [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Jade[/name_f] or [name_f]Jada[/name_f]. Alternatively you could look at names, objects or whatever that you associate with [name_u]Jodi[/name_u]. For example I associate [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] with one of my Grandma’s & books with my mum so [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] and [name_u]Story[/name_u] in my eyes honour those significant people despite not being their actual names.
Also what I would do is have both honours names in the middle name slot then have the first name as your chosen one.
I was asking if you wanted to stick to using only the first names of your and your SO’s moms or if you were considering using their middle names for your daughter as well?
My mom despises her middle name, so I probably wouldn’t use it
[name_f]My[/name_f] MIL’s middle name is [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]. So that’s always a possibility.
I like the idea of [name_f]Ria[/name_f], [name_u]Jori[/name_u], and [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]!
Jodianna reminded me of two names that I love…[name_f]Joann[/name_f] and [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]!
That’s a good idea to think of something that reminds you of the person!
So far I’ve thought of [name_u]Harper[/name_u] because my mom plays the harp and just in general loves music.
Both my mom and my MIL are devoted piano players, so maybe that is another avenue I will go down.
