I would love for a future daughter to be named after both her grandmothers but I’ve had trouble thinking of ways to combine both of their names, unless I really loved the name I would probably keep the honour name as a middle spot.
[name_f]My[/name_f] mums name is [name_f]Helen[/name_f], which also happens to by my Grandma [name_f]Brenda[/name_f]'s middle name. [name_f]My[/name_f] bf’s mum is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] but goes by [name_f]Bessie[/name_f], his sisters name is [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. So far I have thought of [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] but I’m not sure on them, could you help by coming up with some other ways I could honour them both?
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] seems like a good combination but you could always use [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Helena[/name_f] ([name_f]Helen[/name_f] would seem too choppy for the middle name.
I think there are many way’s to honor family members.
You can choose to use their name the way it is. ([name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and/or [name_f]Helen[/name_f])
You can choose to use a variant of their name. ([name_f]Lisette[/name_f]/[name_f]Isobel[/name_f] and/or [name_f]Alena[/name_f]/Jalena)
You can choose to use their initials in the name. (So if [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]’s initials were ELK you could name your daughter [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Lilian[/name_f] K___ - of course this is easier if your daughter is going to have a ln with the same initial and might be easier with your bf’s mothers name than your mothers name. - This could be really cool if combined with #2 his mothers initials and a variant of your mothers name!)
Choose a name with a similar/same meaning as your family members (i.e.: [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] = [name_m]Peal[/name_m] so naming a child [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] could honor a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]).
Choose something the person you want to honor loves and use that as the meaning of a name or even the name.
I think a combo of 2) and 3) could be a really great way to honor both mothers/grandmothers…
E starting [name_f]Helen[/name_f] variants: [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f]/[name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f]/[name_f]Elene[/name_f] and [name_f]Elin[/name_f]/[name_f]Elina[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
Sadly I don’t know of any H starting [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] variants.
Other Suggestions:
[name_f]Bella[/name_f] (B from [name_f]Bessie[/name_f] with [name_f]Helen[/name_f] variant [name_f]Ella[/name_f] as body of name)
any name that could be nn’s [name_f]Bella[/name_f] (so Beluha, [name_f]Belinda[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], etc).
[name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother’s name is [name_f]Helen[/name_f], too! I have an aunt named [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] to honor [name_f]Helen[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]? [name_f]Elena[/name_f] seems the closest. [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is pretty. [name_f]Beth[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]. [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Lizbeth[/name_f]. [name_f]Heloise[/name_f] is a stretch but it has the z sound from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and the Hel from [name_f]Helen[/name_f].
