WDYT of... (#3)

The name [name_f]Eileen[/name_f]?

I heard it two months ago or so, just wanted to know your opinions on it? (Mainly if it is 1) too dated or 2) totally blends in to the other el/-line names?)

Thanks in advance,
~[name_f]Irie[/name_f]

I know two woman named [name_f]Eileen[/name_f], pronounced iy-LEEN, so not blending in with the other [name_f]Elle[/name_f] names. As too the other [name_f]LINE[/name_f] names, some pronounce those [name_f]LINE[/name_f] and others LEEN, so I wouldn’t worry there either. I would not call it dated. I feel neutral. Although the two I know are both very sweet, friendly woman. Which makes me somewhat like the name.

Yeah, I guess you’re right about the [name_f]Elle[/name_f] names since I do pronounce it eye-leen after all. ;] There’s something about this name that I really like. Also, anyone have opinions on the name [name_f]Bernice[/name_f]? And what names can I get the nn [name_f]Bunnie[/name_f] out of for a girl? x

I prefer [name_f]Irene[/name_f]/[name_f]Irina[/name_f].

Thanks guys for your comments! I like [name_f]Irina[/name_f]/[name_f]Irene[/name_f] too but recently have been fascinated with [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] for whatever reason. :stuck_out_tongue:

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] is not on my radar as a like, love, or adore; I think it is a solid name. I actually like the look of it. So I can understand others loving it.

[name_f]Bunnie[/name_f]/[name_f]Bunny[/name_f] would work as a pet name with any name. I feel neutral to dislike for [name_f]Bernice[/name_f]. Sorry, and sorry [name_f]Bernice[/name_f].

[name_f]Eileen[/name_f] is pretty, a little dated but not in an unuseable way.

[name_f]Eileen[/name_f] 's only possible negative for me is that some would think it dated. But I think it has reason to be used again where as sorry some other names trending are awful to me. If you used [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] I imagine many would think it might be an honour name and remember what a sweet name it is. I knew the sweetest Irish woman, mother of six boys including twins which you have just bought to the forefront of my mind. . There are some ‘leen names’ I am not so fond of but Caireen and [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] have a lovely lilt.
edited to add Bernice teases me -even Berenice-I love it and pull away again. Bernie is an adorble nickname I know two sophisticated woman carry.
I have some issue with the letter B - Brighid Ophelia is definitely it, and then I hear a softer initial name and start questioning. Sorry my problem.

Km kinda biased because I have a wonderful teacher with that name.

It is a little dated to me, but not too much so. I know of someone with the [name_f]Aileen[/name_f] spelling which for some reason makes me like it a tad bit better. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though it’s not really a name I would consider I do like it!

[name_f]Bernice[/name_f] I like mostly with a nn of [name_u]Bernie[/name_u], but I’m sure [name_f]Bunnie[/name_f] could work too.

I immediately sing the song “Come on [name_f]Eileen[/name_f]”. I’m not really a fan but I don’t hate it.

Names for the NN [name_f]Bunnie[/name_f] are hard! Looking it up, [name_f]Bernice[/name_f] and [name_f]Barbara[/name_f] are the names listed. I also found [name_f]Buna[/name_f] but I’m not really sure I like that…

Where I am, it is rather dated. I suppose it’s alright, but I’m not really a fan.

On its own merits I totally see how [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] could sound really appealing. To me it’s really dated - it’s of the same vintage as [name_f]Darlene[/name_f] and [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]… I think of an [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] as being around 60 now.

If it helps, there’s the much-more-current [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

My sister’s MN is [name_f]Eileen[/name_f]. It was almost my MN, too, but they had set combos picked out, and opted for a different FN. I’m not a huge fan of it–it feels rather dated to me, and I love the sound of the similar [name_f]Aileen[/name_f] (AY-leen) more than [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] (eye-LEEN). I do love that it is a form of [name_f]Helen[/name_f], though (I seem to adore every other variant of [name_f]Helen[/name_f]–the Danish [name_f]Helene[/name_f] (heh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-neh), the [name_m]French[/name_m] [name_f]Helene[/name_f] (with accents. I can’t seem to get Google to load right now to copy and paste, haha. Pronounced ay-[name_m]LEN[/name_m]), the Scottish [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] (AY-lee), even the timeless, Shakespearean [name_f]Helena[/name_f], the original Greek [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] (eh-[name_m]LEN[/name_m]-ee).).

“[name_f]Eileen[/name_f]” is my middle name (spelled differently, though), so I may be biased. I think it’s lovely and soft. I don’t find it dated and would be rather surprised to meet a little [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] now.
