WDYT of Ajax?

I keep coming back to this name. I really love it, despite the very strong brand association…I feel like I’m getting close to a very nice short list and trying to decide if [name_m]Ajax[/name_m] is on it or not. [name_f]My[/name_f] family is Greek so that’s partly why I like it, haven’t found any other Greek names that appeal to me as much. Really would love to know what you all think…is it usable? First or middle?

Thanks

It is too tied to the cleaning product for me. Personally I would use it for a pet. But if I met a little boy with the name I wouldn’t be horrified or anything. I’d probably think it was cute.

I associate it with both the cleaning product and the programming term (asynchronous javascript and xml) - yes, I know this makes me a total nerd. So for me, I would never consider this a name.

I would not use it for a child. Maaaybe as a middle, but I don’t like the [name_u]Hero[/name_u] connection, and I do associate it strongly with the cleaning product.

I have a major love/hate relationship with this name.
I love it. Absolutely adore [name_m]Ajax[/name_m]… and then I go to clean my kitchen or bathroom and I absolutely hate this name. It’s not so much that the name itself changes but that I get reminded of the association with the cleaning agent. If I lived in a country where [name_m]Ajax[/name_m] wasn’t such a household name for this particular cleaning agent I’d consider it - but as is, I wouldn’t.

I think it’s great, I love mythological names and “[name_m]Jax[/name_m]” makes this one very wearable. I do associate it with the cleaning product (but how many kids will?)and the football club, which should not be an issuesince you’re an American. [name_f]IMO[/name_f] neither of these is a deal-breaker.

It just screams DISH SOAP to me. Sorry! Maybe it would work as a middle? Or what about [name_m]Axel[/name_m], [name_m]Jax[/name_m], [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_m]Knox[/name_m], or [name_m]Lennox[/name_m] nn [name_u]Lex[/name_u]?

I don’t use [name_m]Ajax[/name_m] as a cleaning product and I can’t recall seeing it in the stores in my area, though I could just be blind. So…for me the cleaning product association isn’t that strong.

It’s not like Pepsi or Windex, as it was a given name long before it was a product name.
It’s along the lines of [name_m]Duncan[/name_m], [name_f]Wendy[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], or [name_m]Amos[/name_m].
Though they have brand associations, I think knowing someone by that name immediately makes the brand association fade

[name_m]Just[/name_m] like I know [name_m]Duncan[/name_m]'s that don’t make me think of cake mix, [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]'s that don’t make me think of milk, and an [name_m]Amos[/name_m] who doesn’t make me think of cookies

I had never heard of the brand before I mentioned [name_m]Ajax[/name_m] as a name I loved a few years ago - here in [name_f]England[/name_f], I can’t say I have ever seen the cleaning product on the shelves, although that doesn’t mean it’s not a familiar association (my sister has bagsied it already unfortunately, with the nickname [name_m]Jack[/name_m], but I think it’s completely useable)
