It means ‘‘delightful,’’ and ‘‘beloved.’’ Which pronounciation do you prefer, uh-my-uh, or uh-me-uh?
I think it’s pretty! And such a wonderful meaning.
Personally, I prefer the uh-me-uh pronunciation for this spelling. [name_f]Amaia[/name_f] or [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] would be uh-my-uh to me. [name_f]Amiyah[/name_f] with an H could be either.
[name_f]Amiya[/name_f] is neither here nor there for me, because I know so many people (at least 10) named this, or a variant of it. It’s an incredibly popular name where I live, so it just feels a bit overdone! Definitely nothing wrong with the name though. I can totally see the appeal and it’s by no means a bad name.
I personally prefer the uh-me-uh pronunciation.
I love the name itself, but I feel like if I had the name and ever tried to introduce myself, I think people would assume they misheard me and just think I said [name_f]Mia[/name_f], or [name_f]Maya[/name_f] depending on which pronunciation you chose. I think the name [name_f]Amiya[/name_f] sounds uh-me-ya, and if you wanted uh-my-a, I would spell it as [name_f]Amaya[/name_f]. While I love [name_f]Amiya[/name_f], I think [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] sounds like more of a name. hope that helps
[name_f]Amiya[/name_f] is okay- it has a nice meaning and quite a nice look. I’d pronounce it uh-mee-uh
It looks like uh-me-yuh to me. It’s nice but I prefer [name_f]Amaya[/name_f].
This!
It’s a good name. I think it would have a high risk of being misspelled and mispronounced, but I like its sound and appearance.
I love the meaning of the name! And I prefer the “uh-my-uh” pronunciation, since that’s how I instinctively pronounce it (which is apparently a hot take, lol)
I adore [name_f]Amaia[/name_f] (pronounced uh-my-uh) but it has a different meaning (“the end”). I prefer that pronunciation but the [name_f]Amiya[/name_f] spelling makes me think of the other way.
