I can’t make up my mind! I find it charming, yet odd at the same time. [name]Do[/name] you think it’s useable?
Friends of our just use it as a mn. I think it’s very nice but I wouldn’t use it as a first.
I like it a lot. I wanted to fit it somewhere on my list, but I couldn’t really find a place for it. I love it as a FN, but I think it’s probably more usable as a MN. I hear it’s really teaseworthy, too (maybe just because it’s unusual?), so that makes me hesitate about it, but I have honestly heard a LOT worse than [name]Atticus[/name], so I don’t know how it’s that bad. Besides, it’s really growing in popularity so I doubt people would really blink an eye at it after a while.
It’s definitely in my bottom 2 of legit names. I don’t get the appeal at all, though I do think it’s usable even though I can’t take it seriously.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Atticus[/name]…it’s my and DBF’s top choice for our future son. He likes the classical connection, while I love the literary reference to [name]Atticus[/name] [name]Finch[/name] in To Kill a Mockingbird. I definitely understand that it’s too out there for some people, or why there are some who wouldn’t like it…but I adore it. I think it’s totally useable, especially since it’s growing in popularity…people may be more used to hearing it now, or five to ten years from now than they were twenty years ago.
[name]LOVE[/name], [name]LOVE[/name], [name]LOVE[/name]!! I think you should go for it!
I know too many babies under 3 named it for it to have any fresh gloss left on it, and after that’s gone all it does is, to me, is suggest that you want big literary ups for having read a book. A book that’s a highschool standard.
I like other classical names more.
I love [name]Atticus[/name]. I love the Latin feel of the name and I love the literary connection. [name]Love[/name].
Not fond of it myself.
I think it’s usable, but I’m not that fond of it and wouldn’t use it personally.
I think this is a big part of why I dislike it so much.
I love [name]Atticus[/name]. I don’t think it’s that odd nowadays though. I think in about 5 years there will be a plethora of little boys named [name]Atticus[/name] running around. It’s actually becoming too popular for my liking.
This is what it sounds like to me, too. [name]Even[/name] if that’s not why you like it, I feel like people are going to think that’s the only reason you like it…know what I mean?
I wouldn’t.
I love it…another vote here!
Sounds like a kid with a lisp trying to say a** kiss.
[name]LOVE[/name] IT! My husband and I have chosen [name]Atticus[/name] for our baby, if the baby is a boy. We find out next week!
Edited for privacy.
I too am having a hard time deciding on [name]Atticus[/name] for my upcoming son’s name. i [name]LOVE[/name] the name…and when i ask friends they seem to too… but someone recently told me there’s a maximum security prison in my home state (NY) that’s called Attica (eeeeks!!) so…is that enough reason to abandon the name of a great literary character?? hmmmmm…
I think its fantastic!..(My nephews name is [name]Ryker[/name], also a prison…nbd!) Go for it!
I absolutely adore [name]Atticus[/name]! I agree with what has been said-in a few years it won’t be that odd anymore.
If you’re hesitant about using it as a first, how about as a middle name? I like [name]Henry[/name] [name]Atticus[/name] . :]
