I found this name the other day and really like it! My husbands favorite name is [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and mine is [name_f]Ava[/name_f], so I thought this would be a good compromise between the two. WDYT? And how would you pronounce it? Thanks so much!!
I would pronounce it ay-vee, like the letters a and v. I am not a particular fan, I’m afraid.
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_u]Averill[/name_u]
You could get [name_f]Avie[/name_f]/[name_f]Ave[/name_f]/[name_f]Ava[/name_f]/[name_f]Elle[/name_f] from either of those
I like it! My personal opinion though is that it should be a nickname for something a bit longer. If you like short names though [name_f]Avie[/name_f] seems like a great compromise!
I think it’s adorable!
Thanks!! I really like it too! [name_m]How[/name_m] would everyone pronounce this when they read it??
I would pronounce it Av (as in java) ee. I think it’s a sweet name although you may like to choose something longer as her formal name, or not. Maybe…
[name_f]Aviva[/name_f]
[name_f]Avalon[/name_f]
[name_f]Avani[/name_f]
I’d say AY-vee. I think it’s cute. Because it has a cute sound, I’d stick it with a longer, more formal middle name to balance it, i.e…
[name_f]Avie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Avie[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Avie[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Avie[/name_f] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Avie[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Avie[/name_f] [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Avie[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f]
etc
I really like it! I pronounced it as “ah-vee.”
I would say Ay-vee, like [name_f]Ava[/name_f], with an ie name. It’s kind of cute, but not really for me. I prefer [name_f]Ava[/name_f] or [name_f]Averie[/name_f].
I would pronounce it Ay-vee as well; the Shaytards on youtube have a daughter named [name_f]Avia[/name_f], which is also really cute.
I would say it [name_m]AH[/name_m]-vee. I had [name_f]Aviva[/name_f] nn [name_u]Avi[/name_u] on my list for a bit, but I think your spelling is adorable! It seems elfish, in a way! I love the idea of Avelina nn [name_f]Avie[/name_f], but just [name_f]Avie[/name_f] is super adorable, too. (Plus, with Avelina, you could call her [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], OR [name_f]Avie[/name_f]!)
I liked the name [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] but my husband is more into short nicknamey names. I chose both of our boys names so I feel like I have to give a little with this one. His favorite is [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] which I’m not crazy about so I thought this was a good compromise that sounded a [name_m]LITTLE[/name_m] less like a nn. The pronunciation I’m using is A-V.
I think it is really cute! And I’m not usually one to go for non established, traditional names.
I’d pronounce it Ay-vee (long a sound, like the letters A and V together).
You might have problems with people mishearing it as [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Ava[/name_f] or assuming it is short for something but those probably aren’t deal breakers for you.
I love the name [name_f]Avis[/name_f] but won’t use it because of the rental car company [name_f]Avie[/name_f] is a cute alternative!
Good luck!
I think [name_f]Avie[/name_f] is cute! My name is [name_u]Avery[/name_u]-from way before it was popular and one of my nicknames was [name_f]Avie[/name_f]. I love it alone but if you wanted it to be a nickname instead you do have several options which is great! But it’s a great combo of what you and your hubby love and it’s original. I’d say if you love it- go with it!
Thanks everyone! I am back and forth between [name_f]Avie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. I am leaning more towards [name_f]Avie[/name_f] at the moment because of the popularity of [name_f]Ava[/name_f]…and because it incorporates a little piece of my husbands favorite [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. But I would definitely want it pronounced A-V…is this the best spelling for that or would you recommend another version?
I love [name_f]Avie[/name_f]! I’d pronounce it “ah - vee”. I would also agree that it seems like it needs a longer formal name. Have you thought about Avielle or [name_f]Aviana[/name_f]?
I pronounced it like the letters, which unfortunately led me to audio-visual…like the AV department. I like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] though.
I think it sounds like a nickname. I’d assume her given name is probably [name_f]Ava[/name_f] or something, and that [name_f]Avie[/name_f] is a nickname.
I really like [name_f]Avie[/name_f]! Some nickname names seems too childish for an adult but this is really beautiful and elegant. I think she would transition well through different ages with this name I would pronounce Ay-vee and the only other thing I can think of is [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-vee which happens with lots of names like [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sandra[/name_f]. If you pick your favorite pronounciation, I think most would stick to it.
See that’s my issue with [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]…I don’t see it aging very well, but I feel like [name_f]Avie[/name_f] would be better. Am I wrong?
