I’m always eager to meet another fan of [name_m]Dante[/name_m]'s works, so you’ve won be over with this name already. I actually like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] a lot. It’s a nice classic, but it doesn’t necessarily have an old lady vibe, like [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] or [name_f]Mildred[/name_f]. I suppose it really depends on the plot and the setting of your story. Obviously it might seem weird to have a [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and a [name_m]Virgil[/name_m] in a sci-fi setting, because most people probably think of more futuristic sounding names when they think of the sci-fi genre. I trust you’re taking your setting into account.
If you’re still questioning it, there are other ways you can keep the name similar, but with more of a modern twist. I think [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is cute, and I’ve also seen [name_f]Beatriss[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Katarina[/name_f] is also very pretty, but I would stray away from it if it’s your middle name. That’s really just a personal preference, but I do feel like it becomes more personal if you give the character a name that’s similar to anything associated with yourself. I have no suggestions at the moment, but out of the names you’ve given, I also like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] (Another nice literary reference, if you’re into [name_u]Poe[/name_u]). I don’t think [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] would be the ideal name! I’m also not a fan of that name. I like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. Some classic names suggestions are: [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
However, since I feel that [name_m]Virgil[/name_m] is a rather unique name, I thought perhaps you might give the other MC an equally interesting name! [name_f]Asta[/name_f], [name_u]Blair[/name_u], [name_f]Darina[/name_f], [name_u]Penrose[/name_u], [name_u]Paisley[/name_u], [name_f]Vera[/name_f] are some suggestions!

And, I do love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], I think you’re right in saying it’s not that old-lady-ish, but it might sound a little strange in my book to have both MCs with literary names. It’s not SciFi, but it is set in modern day [name_u]America[/name_u] and it’s fantasy/adventure. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is definitely a consideration for me I like the [name_u]Poe[/name_u] reference it comes with!

I agree. I personally love the name [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], but something a little more modern-sounding might work better. Not everyone will like it.
