Okay, so I’m having a bit of a dilemma with my main character in my story.
Her full name is [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Hart[/name], but she’s referred to in the story as [name]Bette[/name] ([name]Bet[/name]). I just want to know what you guys think and opinions are of this particular name.
I think [name]Bette[/name] works as a nickname for [name]Elizabeth[/name], but I’d expect it in a certain time period (ie 1920-1960.) Is that when your story takes place? If so, then it’s spot on. Outside that era it’d be a bit less expected, but still fine.
[name]Hope[/name] that helps!
Yes, that helps, thank you! The time period is set in the present, but I chose [name]Bette[/name] because I’ve never met anyone or read a book with that name and I wanted a name that wasn’t seen or heard often.
I like it! If anything fails, you could still include the explanation of her parents having been huge [name]Bette[/name] Midler fans (because that’s my main association with this form of [name]Elizabeth[/name]).
