If I ever have another son, I’m going to name him [name]Brandon[/name] [name]Lucas[/name] [name]Matthew[/name]. I decided this a while back and nothing will change my mind. However, this morning when I was dropping my kids off at head start. I noticed that there was a [name]Brandon[/name] in both my daughter and son’s classrooms. So it got me wondering…is it too common of name? It honestly doesn’t matter to me if it is, because like I said, nothing will change my mind, but I was just curious to see what you other berries thought of it.
[name]Brandon[/name] is ranked number 47 nationally, which surprised me, I thought it was a lot less common. My last pastor (who’s moved on from my church over a year ago) has an adorable little son named [name]Brandon[/name] (mn [name]Everett[/name], I believe?), so I that leaves a pretty good image in my mind (although he is pretty spoiled, lol). And I think [name]Rebecca[/name], [name]Elijah[/name], and [name]Brandon[/name] work quite well together! I used to love it, when I first added [name]Caleb[/name] to my list years ago, [name]Caleb[/name] [name]Brandon[/name] was my combo. It only lasted for a couple weeks (maybe even days, lol), but I thought it was just adorable. It seems very down-to-earth and kind, handsome, but for some reason it feels quite dated to me. Obviously the world doesn’t agree with me, since it’s still very much used–although maybe it was because it was top 10 material in the 90s. It’s fallen a bit since then, but not by much. I do prefer [name]Landon[/name] in general, but [name]Brandon[/name] is still a great name, and I’ve always liked it more than [name]Brendan[/name]/[name]Brennan[/name].
Good luck!
I remember there being a lot of Brandons when I was in school and I had thought it had gotten less popular, but apparently I was wrong. Like you said, you love the name, and even if he does share classes with other Brandons, worse things have happened. If you have an uncommon last name, you should worry even less.
I don’t know any little Brandons, but I do know a [name]Brenden[/name]. I personally prefer [name]Brendan[/name] or [name]Brennan[/name] (love!) but I like [name]Brandon[/name] too!
[name]Brandon[/name] feels very 90s to me, and I wouldn’t think that it was still so popular now. [name]Brandon[/name] [name]Lucas[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] is a nice name though. Nothing should deter you from using it.
I think what’s happening here is people are seeing in action that #47 sounds high but does not actually mean tons and tons of babies : D.
A co-worker of mine did just have a little baby named [name]Brandon[/name] though, so I mean, it’s out there.
I have a terrible association that kind of ruined the name. I’ve had good associates since then that are pulling it up, but still. You know how that can be. But the sound alone is OK. I do kind of hear the “bran” really loudly, and think of grain, but that’s not the worst thing.
It does seem dated to me, as well. But I know a little 2 yo named [name]Brandon[/name] and he’s an absolute doll. It’s still not my style, but it’s definitely usable. And I know a ton of kids, now and over many years, and he’s the only [name]Brandon[/name] I’ve ever met. I have heard [name]Brendan[/name] and [name]Brayden[/name] much more. And since [name]Brayden[/name] is so popular and they are so close together, it may be confused. Overall a good name, though.
My cousin is [name]Brandon[/name], [name]Brandon[/name] [name]David[/name]. I used to adore the name when I was younger, mostly due to him. He was that cool older cousin who was quiet but a lot of fun once he opened up.
We have a [name]Brandon[/name] [name]Michael[/name] at the daycare, and since then I’ve realized that it’s kind of ho-hum to me now. It’s a total 90s kid name to me. It’s not bad though, the only nicknames I can think of would be [name]Andy[/name], [name]Don[/name] but it doesn’t fit in sound.
I don’t think it’s too common, I think it’s one of those names that you don’t notice until it’s in your mind.
Like it and feel like I haven’t heard it much lately. As another poster mentioned … my personal preference is for [name]Brennan[/name].
I think [name]Brandon[/name] is a good name, if a little dated. I think people tend to lean more towards similar names with a fresher sound like [name]Brennan[/name]/[name]Braiden[/name]/[name]Brady[/name]. I don’t think [name]Brandon[/name] is that popular but it is not uncommon either. I think [name]Brandon[/name] is a great name, and it is refreshing to hear it with all the [name]Braiden[/name]'s running amok. lol
I grew up knowing a [name]Brandon[/name] and he was a ratbag.
It feels a bit my-aged, like [name]Justin[/name]/[name]Jason[/name]/[name]Bradley[/name] and [name]Jessica[/name]/[name]Rachel[/name]/[name]Sarah[/name] to me.
I don’t think it sounds ridiculous, but I don’t like many B names for boys. [name]Brandon[/name]/[name]Brenden[/name]/[name]Bradley[/name] don’t appeal at all. [name]Bram[/name] is cool. [name]Benjamin[/name] is nice but popular and not the same style as the others. I can’t deal with [name]Brayden[/name]/[name]Braeden[/name] etc, [name]Brandon[/name] beats those.
[name]Brandon[/name] is what I consider a modern classic. On par with say, [name]Michelle[/name]. It was popular during the 80s/90s but doesn’t feel dated like [name]Heather[/name] or [name]Kevin[/name].
I think [name]Brandon[/name] is a very well-rounded name. You can picture it on an athlete just as easily as you can you can on a rock star or businessman.
