WDYT of Bridie?

My husband told me that he likes [name]Bridie[/name]. I actually like it…

I remember reading somewhere that it’s typically a nickname for [name]Bridgett[/name] (correct me if I’m wrong) but do you think it has the potential to be a stand alone name? If not then would you be great and suggest some full names for the nn [name]Bridie[/name]?

Thanks!

I think it has potential to be a stand alone name! (: I like it

[name]Love[/name] it. That’s really one very lovely and girly name.

I don’t personally care for it. When I see the name on paper I misread it as [name]Birdie[/name]. So I think it has the possibility of being a very confusing name in real life. It also doesn’t seem like a complete name since it isn’t really a recognisable name. To me the connection to [name]Bridget[/name] isn’t very apparent like other nickname names (like [name]Josie[/name] is obviously tied to [name]Josephine[/name])

It is a short form of [name]Bridget[/name]. I knew one person with this name. It was hyphenated, [name]Bridie[/name]-[name]Kate[/name]. She always went by both. I think it’s totally usable.

This one’s grown on me a lot recently since I heard it used on tv a few months ago. Pretty

It’s a stand alone name. I’ve heard it on girls here in Australia.
[name]Bridie[/name] is a nice name.

I really like your children’s name in your signature…especially [name]Astoria[/name] [name]Lark[/name]!

It’s lovely, my Great Aunt [name]Bridget[/name] was always known as [name]Bridie[/name]. I love it as a nick name but think could be a tricky name for a grown woman, imagine a divorce lawyer or wedding planner called [name]Bridie[/name]…Stick with the classic [name]Bridget[/name] for a given name (in the interest of full disclosure [name]Bridget[/name] is my daughter’s middle name!).

I thought it was [name]Birdie[/name], which I love. [name]Bridie[/name] looks mispelled. [name]Bridget[/name] and [name]Beatrice[/name] come to mind.

I too thought it was [name]Birdie[/name]. After that, I couldn’t get of the similarity to [name]Bride[/name]. I am a sucker for girls names that end in “ie,” but [name]Bridie[/name] is really not a name I care for. I do think it can stand alone as a name though.

My friend knows a [name]Bridie[/name] (br-eye-dee) that she always talks about, the name first seemed odd to me, but I’m warming to it!

Personally, I don’t like [name]Bridie[/name]. However, if you like it, it could definitely work as a stand alone name.

I love it along with look-alike [name]Bridget[/name] nickname “[name]Birdie[/name]”. I think it sounds spunky and cute, great for a little girl. I can’t think of a different full name for it than [name]Bridget[/name], but that being said I think [name]Bridget[/name] is an amazing choice. A classic that also feels very modern and edgy.

I love [name]Bridie[/name] so much! It’s very much a stand alone in Australia, and rarely used as a nm for [name]Bridget[/name]. I don’t think there are any full versions of the name that are more attractive.

Thanks for the feedback! I like it but I don’t like it enough to use it - and I also can’t get over the ‘bride’ connection. My DH really wants to use it if its a girl but Im not sure.

It’s on the list anyway, as a stand alone name! Thanks for answering!
