WDYT of Bronwen?

And how does it compare to [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f], two other Welsh names?

It isn’t my style but I kind of like it. It’s different but not too difficult to pronounce and has a pleasant enough sound. It seems very different from [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f] to me. I prefer [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f]. But, I tend to lean towards M names.

It’s pretty and very mature sounding. I think it goes better with [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]. [name_f]Megan[/name_f] has been widely popular for so long, it feels like it’s lost its Welsh roots.

I like the strength and weight of it, even though the sound isn’t quite my cup of tea. I feel the same way about [name_f]Bronte[/name_f], so it must be the “[name_m]Bron[/name_m]” sound — it sound a bit blunt to me.

But I do think it’s a fantastic and very underused Welsh name. I do prefer the sound of both [name_f]Megan[/name_f] and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] (love [name_f]Meg[/name_f] and [name_f]Merry[/name_f] for short), but I’d be more excited to see [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] used, since it’s so much rarer!

I like it. It’s pleasant and strong. I’m from the US where [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] is much less common than [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] or [name_f]Megan[/name_f]. I do know one [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] who I knew when she was probably eight, and she wore the name well.

I like it! It feels spunky and strong. I like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], it’s sweet, but not the same vibe as [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]. [name_f]Megan[/name_f] is too common and a bit bland tbh.

I love it. Very different and interesting, especially compared to [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f].

Agreed! I’m not sure I love the “[name_m]Bron[/name_m]” sound, though it could grow on me. But regardless, I really like the name in theory. It’s strong and distinctive, and would be very refreshing on a little girl!

I think of it as kind of a different genre than [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f], which don’t feel as clearly Welsh to me in spite of their roots.

I know several [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f]’s, and I think it’s a lovely name. [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] is the spelling I’m more familiar with, but I may actually prefer [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f].

I like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] as well, and could see [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] as a sister for [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] or [name_f]Megan[/name_f].

I dont like [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] / [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f].
Muuuch prefer [name_f]Megan[/name_f]!

Love [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f], and I would like it even better paired with other Welsh names like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f].

I love it— I think it’s elegant and strong and reminds me of a warrior [name_f]Princess[/name_f]. I do prefer the spelling [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f], but that’s just for personal/aesthetic reasons.

I really like [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] I think it’s such a wholesome elegant sound. [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] has an interesting mythological history with connections to the sea which is pretty. I like [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] and often suggest this name to others. Personally I prefer [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] to [name_f]Megan[/name_f] I think it’s a more intriguing choice but I prefer [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] to [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]. I think [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] & [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] would make a gorgeous sibling set.

I love [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]!
I would say it’s my favorite of the three names here, with [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] as a close second.

I adore [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]. Warm and gorgoeus

It would depend on the spelling for me:For example, [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] and [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] Edwards.

I love [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] but prefer the [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] spelling. Brownwen is closely linked in my mind to the Welsh name [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f], maybe similar N sounds. They both feel classic and feminine but are would be an unexpected and lovely choice in the USA.

I do also like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and think it’s an excellent name for an adult and wearable as a child. I think it also gives you some great childhood nicknames- Mer, merry, and even [name_f]Edith[/name_f] or [name_f]Edie[/name_f].

Megan is a lovely name but it’s decidedly more common than your other choices. I was never in a class (Kindergartner through University) that had less than 4 Megans, so it’s too closely tied to my peers for me to use it.

NMS but [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] seems more established in the USA.

I like [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]! It’s striking and lovely. I prefer it to both [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f], which are nice, but feel a bit dated to me. There’s a berry that was on here years ago who has a [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]–I always loved that name.

I love love love [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]. It’s one of my favourite names. I love the bron sound which I find strong, warm and earthy, and the wen sound which is gentle and feminine - I also love [name_f]Bronte[/name_f].

The 3 names [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f] have a similar earthy, warm, strong feel to me and would work as siblings. I like them all but my favourite is [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]. I feel it is the least expected and has the strongest presence.
