I think they are pronounced the same, but I prefer the spelling [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]. I do think [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] would often be misspelled. It’s a lovely name, but not my favorite.
Beautiful name (though [name_f]Celia[/name_f] is more my style). I don’t really prefer one spelling over the other, and I think either way runs the risk of being often misspelled. At least it won’t be totally butchered, it will just be an i for an e or an e for an i.
I voted for [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]. I find the ilia more traditional/classic. I do love the name [name_f]Celia[/name_f], but would use that as a stand alone name.
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is the most authentic so that’s my preferred spelling. [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] just looks misspelled to me.
I go against the Nameberry grain on this one – I vastly prefer [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]. Honestly I had no idea [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] was an optional spelling, let alone the preferred spelling by many, before joining this community. I know a couple Cecelias, and there is a street [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] in my neighborhood, and they are all with the [name_f]Cece[/name_f]-beginning. [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] just reminds me of cilia in the body and kind of creeps me out!
