WDYT of Christopher?

As title says. I honestly just haven’t heard the name [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] around here for a while and was wondering what everyone though of it. Thoughts and associations?

Yeah, it doesn’t seem to be a name that I see on nameberry often! Though I have seen a few people who like the idea of Christopher “Kit”.

I personally quite like Christopher. While nn Chris feels dated, Christopher as a full name feels almost timeless, and to me it has some nature vibes because of Christopher Robin.

I knew so many growing up. And they were mostly my younger brothers friends and thus mostly pests! I prefer [name_u]Christian[/name_u]. I see [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] on here sometimes and I don’t like it much, [name_u]Kit[/name_u] sounds very girl to me, but I’m in the US which I think makes a difference.

[name_m]Christopher[/name_m] is solid and strong and you don’t hear it to often. It’s a bit rough for my tastes but I don’t dislike it

I know SO MANY Christophers in real life. It feels like such an overused and common name. It seems like every age has a bunch of Christopher’s too. I know a few friends who have a [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] named after a dad or grandpa. So it just keeps recirculating. I’m not a fan of it because it’s just so common and not fun or new or exciting.

honestly one of my favourite names ever!!!

I would name my child christopher in a heartbeat but my husband detests it :frowning:

I love the nn chris and I love kit

I haven’t given it a lot of thought, but it does have a nice, bouncy sound to it. Maybe that’s because of AA Milne’s poetry? I really, really like the nn Topher… Formal names with quirky nicknames are my jam, and [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], while a bit common, rather fits the bill. It’s a name with lots of flexibility, and would serve a kid well in life, whether he’s a corner office executive or a mechanic.

As someone with a name that starts with (Chris/Kris/Cris) sounds I’ve always been put off by those familiar sounding names simply because I always was mistaken for a different name with that beginning; HOWEVER, I really like [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]. I even like [name_m]Topher[/name_m] as a nn (like actor [name_m]Topher[/name_m] Grace). I think it slots in there with the [name_u]William[/name_u] and [name_m]Richards[/name_m] of the world. Timeless classics that don’t feel old school or too modern!

Many of them in my husband’s family. It was never a name I was drawn to anyway though.

One of my top five favorite boy names for sure. I think it’s a classic. I knew a couple Chris’s, and while normally I’d avoid picking any name that is so popular like this, [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] is one of the exceptions for me. I hadn’t seen it mentioned on nameberry a lot either (which I was kinda glad about haha). I love the spellings [name_m]Kristofer[/name_m], [name_m]Kristopher[/name_m], etc.

I think [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] is a super handsome classic! I personally am not huge on any of the nicknames, though, and it’s quite long on its own.

I honestly love [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]. I know it could be seen as a “dad name,” but I just don’t feel that way about it. I love [name_m]Chip[/name_m], [name_u]Kit[/name_u] and [name_m]Kip[/name_m] as possible nicknames.

I think it’s a classic and never really goes out of style!

[name_f]Edit[/name_f] to say : I love Chip!!!
