Still trying to figure out the perfect name for our little girl due in [name]November[/name] and I’m currently loving [name]Cora[/name]. It seems short, spunky, feminine without being too frilly and not too common but not too unique. I’d really like to use [name]Hazel[/name] as a middle to honor my grandmother. [name]Do[/name] you all think [name]Cora[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] sounds nice together? I would normally prefer a one or three syllable MN with [name]Cora[/name] but would love to include my grandma’s name.
She will be little sister to [name]Milo[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]; do you think [name]Cora[/name] and [name]Milo[/name] make a good sibset?
Other names we’ve been considering are [name]Olive[/name], [name]Rosalind[/name] (nn “[name]Rosie[/name]”), [name]Iris[/name], [name]Flora[/name] or [name]Thea[/name] but none of them have felt quite right like [name]Cora[/name] has.
I think [name]Cora[/name] hazel is a very pretty name:) it is very old fashioned, but very pretty and it goes great with [name]Milo[/name], stick with it!
I love [name]Cora[/name] [name]Hazel[/name]. I think [name]Cora[/name]'s fabulous and oh-so-sweet, and I love that it’s literary. My only hang-up is that I’ve met about 8 of them now (and just jet the last one a couple days ago). I don’t think it’s huge most places, but I hear it all over the place here!
Out of your other choices, I really, really love [name]Olive[/name]! I think [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Olive[/name] are really cool together. Then again, so are [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Cora[/name]! I think [name]Olive[/name] avoids the strong “O” sound that [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] share, though.
Eight Coras? Wow! I live in WA State and I’ve heard a couple on the playground, but definitely not that many. Hopefully that doesn’t mean it’s heading for the top 10.
[name]Olive[/name] is our second choice but something keeps holding me back. I think it’s that I have a hard time picturing a 30 year old [name]Olive[/name]. I can see the name on a little girl or an old lady, but not a 30 year old professional. Maybe that’s crazy but it’s really holding me back from using [name]Olive[/name].
I love [name]Cora[/name], it is one of two options for girls. I think [name]Cora[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] sounds really nice together and I like that it honors a family member.
I am not sure where you are from, but in MA, I have not met any [name]Cora[/name]'s just yet. I think the name is becoming more trendy, but, it is certainly not heading for the top 10, at least in my opinion.
I really love both [name]Cora[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name], but I’m not wild about them together. Probably just because they have the same number of syllables. That being said, I think [name]Cora[/name] and [name]Milo[/name] make an adorable sibset!
I also love [name]Olive[/name]! But, like you, I have a hard time picturing a middle-aged [name]Olive[/name].
I love the combo, but I’ll second the poster who said they’re hearing it a lot lately. An old high school classmate is expecting a girl in [name]November[/name] and calling her [name]Cora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], and a college classmate delivered a daughter on Friday and is calling her [name]Cora[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name].
Thanks for all the feedback! I can’t believe how hard it is to name a little girl. When I was pregnant with my son I remember thinking it would be so easy to name a girl because there are so many beautiful names, but for one reason or another none of them seem like THE name for my daughter.
I love that [name]Cora[/name] is simple and sweet without being too sweet, if that makes any sense. And other than hearing it once or twice on the playground I don’t know anyone named [name]Cora[/name] but it makes me a little nervous to hear there are so many out there. I generally think that if you love a name you should use it whether or not it’s popular, but as a [name]Jessica[/name] born in 1980 I’d really prefer my daughter not have four other Coras in all her classes growing up.
Thanks again for everyone’s feedback - if you have other names you think I’d like, please feel free to suggest them!
I think [name]Cora[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] is quite pretty. [name]One[/name] thing, though - I know you don’t like frilly names, but did you ever think about [name]Coralie[/name] or [name]Coraline[/name] as a three syllable name that could get you [name]Cora[/name] as an nn? I think [name]Coraline[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] or [name]Coralie[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] flows a little bit better. I still think [name]Cora[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] is great, though!
I really love [name]Cora[/name] [name]Hazel[/name]- though the syllables are a little blunt together. What about [name]Cora[/name] [name]Aveline[/name]? It means hazel or hazel tree in French. Other then that, I think it’s wonderful. It goes really well with [name]Milo[/name] [name]Thomas[/name].
