WDYT Of Cordelia?

So, I’ve come across the name [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] because I was looking for a substitute to [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]. (They seem to have pretty similar styles, maybe?..) I love the meaning “Daughter Of The Sea,” since my parents are sailors and I like nickname options, [name_f]Cori[/name_f] or [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. However, I can’t tell what the baby/kid/teen/adult given this name would look like, which I’m usually able to. What do y’all picture?

(Off Topic Question- As I said I was looking for a sub to [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], I really like the name [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] but I can’t picture a daughter of mine named that. Any suggestions?)

The name you give your child isn’t really going to impact the person they become … take it from someone who changed their own name as an adult. I could imagine a [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] looking/acting all kinds of ways.

That said, the connotations it has for me are: very feminine, regal, upper class. It can feel fussy with the wrong MN, but it can also be strong and serious. I think of [name_m]King[/name_m] Lear’s daughter, but also the character from [name_f]Buffy[/name_f] the Vampire Slayer (both great characters, imo, but obviously very different).

I think [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] or even [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] could work well. A few other names that give me similar vibes:

[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]
[name_f]Bryony[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_m]Cymbeline[/name_m]

I love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and would choose it over [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] myself.

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is intellectual, successful and driven imo.

I love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and I love the ocean association!

I prefer [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] to [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], but [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is lovely.
I’d imagine [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] to be quite tall and pale, probably with dark shiny hair. She’s intelligent, serious and loves to read. She was a quiet, bookish child and did well at school. Now she is an English professor and lives alone in a small cottage in the countryside. She has two cats, [name_f]Busy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], and a pet rabbit called [name_f]Snow[/name_f]. Her hobbies are jazz music, hiking and sailing. She is fluent in [name_m]French[/name_m]. She’s engaged to a young man called [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] whom she met while studying abroad.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and it’s a great way to honor your parents. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is gorgeous too. I think it will age well. It’s a pretty dramatic sounding name to me but also quirky and classic.

I love the name [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]! It’s one of our daughters middles, though we were considering it for a first. [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Delia[/name_f], & [name_f]Elle[/name_f] are my personal favorite nicknames for it.

My cousin has a daughter with this name who goes by [name_f]Cordy[/name_f]. I think it’s a lovely name.

I think of [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] from BTVS.
