WDYT of Daria

[name_f]Daria[/name_f], is my favourite girl name especially since it has such a strong character association for me. This is because [name_f]Daria[/name_f] is the main character for a comic like story that I hope to write sometime soon. Though it’s now my number one name for girls because of this character and I can picture it on a future daughter. Though when I mention it to friends they tell me that she could be teased, especially for the whole “diarrhea” situation. So,should I still consider this name for reality or is the diarrhea issue to prominent to consider it it on an actual child? Is it weird to use a name of an original character on your children, since I already have pre-conceived notions of the name relating to personality. Also, do you think my natural love for my future child will overrule the pre-conceived notions that I may have?
Note: I’m not actually pregnant I’m just wondering for the future.

Thank You!

Not sure about teasing but I like it ya I can totally see it on a little girl , I have loved [name_f]Doria[/name_f] for a boy since I read the ink series what do you think ?

Not sure about using one of your character names if it gets published if say not 2 use it if it’s just something your playing around with I’d say go for it

[name_f]Daria[/name_f] is a fine name–use it if you love it! It reminds me of the 90’s cartoon drama tv show…so for me, unfortunately, [name_f]Daria[/name_f] reminds me of a monotoned, sarcastic, misanthropic teen.

[name_f]Daria[/name_f] reminds me of the gorgeous model [name_f]Daria[/name_f] Werbowy. I wouldn’t worry too much about the diarrhea teasing, I’ve known a couple of [name_f]Daria[/name_f]'s, and I think it should be fine. However, I personally find it a bit odd to consider character names for future children, as my characters are kind of like my babies, and I just cannot imagine using their name for a future child. Horses for courses though.

I strongly associate [name_f]Daria[/name_f] with the cartoon, which I never watched much. I don’t think your daughter’s generation will know anything about it, so maybe you are safe from teasing? That is, unless she has an immature uncle that calls her diarrhea (I have family members like this, unfortunately).

I’ve known a few [name_m]Darias[/name_m], both eastern european. I think it’s fine and a more unusual choice, which gets points.

However, I agree with a few posters above that if you’ll be using this for a character, don’t use it for a child. Or vice versa. Besides, isn’t fiction where you get to pull out your best GP names??
