Wdyt of Eldrid

Title says it all. What do you think? Name is [name_m]Eldrid[/name_m].

EDIT: Sorry, I spell name in the title wrongly. It’s Eldrid.

I’m not really a fan.

Sorry, not my favorite. The title is spelled E-L-D-I-R-D and it says E-L-D-R-I-D in the post. The first spelling I’d pronounce [name_f]EL[/name_f] - durd, which I don’t like the sound of. The second is [name_f]EL[/name_f]- drid, which I’ve only seen spelled [name_m]Eldred[/name_m]. If you love it, I’d recommend the [name_m]Eldred[/name_m] spelling.

Edit: Title’s corrected now - My gut response to Eldrid is better than when I thought it was Eldird  It still doesn’t quite hit the mark for me, but it’s awfully close to some of the fusty old man names that I do love. It’s also apparently related to Aldred, which is likely to be confused for Alfred but feels a little “warmer” to me.

Nothing, nevermind.

is a name I have never heard before.

While I love many e names, some odd and unusual, I don’t instantly like this one.

But it is more interesting than most boys’ names, so it is something to consider.

I guess it sounds too much like [name_f]Mildred[/name_f] to me. I was at a military cemetery recently and found the male name Elmus on a stone and liked it.

I don’t like it. I just don’t find the sound appealing at all. Something about the sound is old and ominous in a bad way, and it just doesn’t feel easily wearable to me.

Maybe one day I’ll meet someone named [name_m]Eldrid[/name_m] who will wear it well and they’ll completely change my mind, but for now it just doesn’t quite work for me.

I’m not a fan, sorry. :frowning:

[name_m]Eldrid[/name_m]'s a Norwegian feminine name, so no, I don’t like it on a boy.

The girl name means “beautiful fire” and is pronounced [name_f]EL[/name_f]-drihd.
