No nicknames.
I have always really liked [name]Eleanor[/name]. It’s a bit of hot button issue in my house recently because I’ve been lobbying for [name]Eleanor[/name] since my husband and I first got engaged (that was when I happened to unleash my name nerd tendencies…whoops) and he always told me that he didn’t care for it.
A few months ago my best friend got pregnant and told me that one of the only names they both like is [name]Eleanor[/name] and they plan to use it, if not now, then in the future. After sighing and giving up on the name for myself (but happy that at least someone was going to have a little [name]Eleanor[/name]) my husband goes and tells me that he’s come around and actually really likes the name. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper, but I’m still hoping that if she doesn’t end up using it, he won’t change his mind back.
All of that, I guess, was a roundabout way of saying I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Eleanor[/name] and the more little Eleanors there are running around out there, the happier I’ll be.
P.S. You might have a hard time keeping it nickname proof since it can sometimes be a mouthful saying it over and over, so it is a good thing that [name]Ellie[/name] is one of the cutest (and still sophisticated) nicknames ever.
[name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Eleanor[/name]! I think it’s precious and cute for a little girl, but still appropriate for an adult as well.
@jennie: I always try to keep names that I like a lot on the DL so no one else can ‘steal’ them, but if I were you I would still consider using the name. (Like you said, the more little Eleanors the better!)
It takes me a while to find names that I love, so once I’ve found one, I’m keepin’ it!
I think it’s very pretty. Actually, just met a baby girl named [name]Eleanor[/name] yesterday. But, even if you don’t want a nn I think other people will still call her [name]Ella[/name] or [name]Ellie[/name].
I love [name]Eleanor[/name] and adore the nn [name]Ellie[/name]. Other nn possibilities are [name]Ella[/name], [name]Elle[/name], [name]Nora[/name].
I think it’s lovely, regal and timeless but if I was using it I’d spell it [name]Elinor[/name] like [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name]'s “[name]Elinor[/name] Dashwood”.
I think it is a very lovely name. I prefer the spelling [name]Elinor[/name], it looks much cleaner imo. It is one of my top faves and I would consider using it one day.
