Wdyt of Ema

I know this is a rather popular name all over the world but it has been on of my fav since I was younger and I would like to know what you think about the name? Do you like it (apart from popularity)? What imagery does it give you? Do you prefer Ema or Emma?

I think Ema/Emma is a lovely name, despite popularity. Both names feel cozy & earthy, [name_f]Ema[/name_f] giving off slightly more spunky vibes to me. I’m always inclined to pronounce [name_f]Ema[/name_f] with more of an emphasis on the E compared to [name_f]Emma[/name_f], which may be part of the reason it has slightly different vibes to me.

I’d think to say ee-ma for [name_f]Ema[/name_f] and eh-ma for [name_f]Emma[/name_f] even if it doesn’t make sense. Also [name_f]Ema[/name_f] looks like emu to me! So I much prefer [name_f]Emma[/name_f] as a spelling. Personally I think of it as a very vanilla sounding name… Not a bad thing, it is very versatile. I don’t particularly like it but I don’t dislike it either. It’s simple and nice. Reminds me of [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], and [name_f]Ann[/name_f].

[name_f]Emma[/name_f] to me feels more complete and bright, while [name_f]Ema[/name_f] seems too short

[name_f]Ema[/name_f] is okay, I just don’t find it exciting

I like the name well enough. It has a simplistic but good meaning. It’s easy to spell and pronounce, though for that reason I prefer [name_f]Emma[/name_f] as I’m more used to it. [name_f]Ema[/name_f] seems Japanese to me, not that that’s a problem, but it may cause more problems down the road.

If I saw it I would pronounce it like ee-mah which in Hebrew is the word for mother. I much prefer [name_f]Emma[/name_f] especially bc it’s such a popular name and everyone is familiar with the traditional spelling.

I really like it! Where I live (Croatia), [name_f]Ema[/name_f] is definitely the default spelling, but there are also Emma’s. Honestly, I find spelling the name like [name_f]Emma[/name_f] where I live just a tad pretentious, can’t really put my finger as to why. [name_f]Ema[/name_f] is the more established spelling here, for sure (in most, if not all of Eastern Europe as well, AFAIK), even though I know [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is more internationally recognized. I appreciate the name for its simplicity and a beautiful meaning, and I feel like it can fit any personality!

I love the name [name_f]Emma[/name_f] despite its popularity! I think where I am [name_f]Ema[/name_f] would be pronounced with a long E sound, so personally I prefer [name_f]Emma[/name_f], however, if [name_f]Ema[/name_f] works better for you, that spelling is also nice!

I agree with some previous posters that I’d pronounce [name_f]Ema[/name_f] as EE-ma. If I was told that it was pronounced like [name_f]Emma[/name_f], I’d think it looks incomplete.

[name_f]Emma[/name_f] seems more familiar, but I like the look of [name_f]Ema[/name_f] more, tbh… I’m not hugely fond of [name_f]Emma[/name_f], nor I have I ever been… I much prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] myself. But [name_f]Ema[/name_f] is sweet and I would love to meet one! For some reason, probably just because the spelling is different from what I’m used to, I want to say [name_f]Ema[/name_f] as “ee-mah”, but I find it more attractive, visually, and I think I’d get over that fast?
