So I really like [name]Emery[/name] for a girl because its slightly different than the ever popular [name]Emily[/name] that I love. I know a lot of ppl really don’t like unisex names but I think [name]Emery[/name] is pretty and has lots of cute nn possibilities. So wdyt?
I know an older gentleman named [name]Emory[/name] so I find it hard to picture on a girl. To me its like [name]Avery[/name]. I prefer it for a boy and [name]Emory[/name] too, but it seems better to name your girl [name]Emery[/name] than [name]Wyatt[/name] or [name]Maxwell[/name] or [name]Emerson[/name].
It’s one of my favorites for a boy. On a girl I find it to be a bit bland, but not bad.
I don’t like it. [name]Emery[/name] reminds me of emory boards (for filing your nails), to me it almost sounds like someone with a speech impediment or very thick accent trying to say [name]Emily[/name].
I guess I am the odd man out, but I really love [name]Emery[/name] on a girl and strongly dislike it for a boy. I think that it’s because of the “[name]Em[/name]” in it. I think it’s a gorgeous choice!
I like it for a boy, and not so much for a girl. Of course it is used a lot for girls now so it’s not uncommon to want to use it for a girl. I think a little girl can pull it off, it is just not my style on girls.
I agree I think its very frilly for a boy. I tend to like really strong very masculine names for boys and to me [name]Emery[/name] is so soft and pretty I would never consider it for a boy. That being said I do see the association to [name]Emory[/name] boards and it does play a factor into my opinion of the name. I guess I am just trying desperately to find a name that is strong and pretty and more classic than trendy that will not sound ridiculous with my sons extremely popular name [name]Aidan[/name]. Believe it or not when we named him that we didn’t know any Aidans and we didn’t realize its popularity so I’m trying not to make the same mistake twice. I know that it used to be a more common boy name I feel as though it maybe could do just as well on a girl. Also if you have any names that fit the pretty and classic and feminine bill that aren’t Mega popular and don’t sound ridiculous with [name]Aidan[/name] please feel free to share!
[name]How[/name] about [name]Elodie[/name]? I think it’s really pretty and it’s not common. I think [name]Aidan[/name] and [name]Elodie[/name] make a really cute sibset.
I think I really like it! But is it pronounced more like elluhdee or elowdee. I’m not sure I like the long o sound
Interesting that you find [name]Emery[/name] frilly/soft for a boy but strong for a girl
The name is all boy to me
I actually know a girl named [name]Emery[/name] (spelled [name]Emory[/name]) and I always thought it was a great alternative for [name]Emily[/name], [name]Emma[/name], etc.
Great name. Best of luck to you! x
It reminds me of [name]Emory[/name] [name]Gordy[/name] [name]Jr[/name]., the male record producer and emery boards, the things with which I file my nails. So definitely not a fan of this name for a girl.
I love the name [name]Emery[/name]. We just named our baby girl [name]Emery[/name] [name]Kate[/name] and we call her [name]Emmy[/name] sometimes as a nn. I know that traditionally [name]Emery[/name] is a boy’s name (but so was [name]Ashley[/name] and [name]Stacey[/name] at one point). It just sounds like a girl’s name to me. I would have never considered it to be a boy’s name. [name]Emery[/name] is a very hard rock, which is why I think some nail files are called emery boards. Anyways, I really like the name for a little girl. We get compliments all the time.
I actually prefer [name]Emery[/name] as a girl’s name as opposed to a boy’s. (Same with [name]Avery[/name].)
I too think of the nail file!! But if I had to chose if I felt it fit better for a boy or a girl…I’d say boy.
my thoughts exactly
