It’s my father and grandfather’s middle name, and I’m thinking of giving it to my first son as a mn as well but calling him [name]Haddon[/name]. However, my mother thinks it’s too “sissy” for a first name for a boy and I should save it for a daughter. Is she right, or is she just not “in the loop” when it comes to softer boys’ names (ie [name]August[/name], [name]Leander[/name], etc)
I only knew one person named [name]Haddon[/name] and she was a girl. That being said, I don’t find it overly feminine but instead a perfect unisex name that would work equally well with either gender. Also, it is not currently popular and leaning in a certain direction.
I don’t like I much prefer [name]Hayden[/name], I like the family meaning though.
I can see it on either a boy or a girl. It doesn’t seem to “sissy” to me - certainly no more so than other surname-type-names like [name]Spencer[/name].
I’d only think of it as male - sounds tough to me.
I don’t see anything girly about [name]Haddon[/name].
[name]Hi[/name]! [name]Add[/name] me to the list of people who think of a boy when they hear [name]Haddon[/name]!
To me, [name]Haddon[/name] is all boy. Plus, you’ll be using [name]Haddon[/name] in the middle, so if you should ever change your mind about calling him [name]Haddon[/name], you’ll always have his given first name to fall back on.
I think it’s great that you’re using a name with meaning to you!
Good luck!
I really like [name]Haddon[/name]. I think it’s handsome and strong. I spose it could be used for either gender but my first thought is for a boy. I also like it because of the author, [name]Mark[/name] [name]Haddon[/name].
- anon.
I like [name]Haddon[/name], it’s different but not crazy. I think all boy when I hear this, although I can see it being unisex. I think it’s perfect for your little boy especially with the family meaning behind it :]
[name]Love[/name]! [name]Lucky[/name] you to have such a great family name to choose!
