WDYT of Immy?

I really like [name]Immy[/name], but it sounds like a nickname. [name]Do[/name] you know any names that would suit this as a nickname?

[name]Just[/name] letting you know, not [name]Imogen[/name] please!!

I really like the name [name]Monday[/name] with the nickname [name]Immy[/name], but is it too much of a stretch?

Thanks…

~[name]Jasmine[/name]

Ok so [name]Immy[/name] as the nickname and not [name]Imogen[/name]. I’m all for interesting names, but I’m not sure how I’d like growing up as a “[name]Monday[/name]” seeing as [name]Monday[/name] is the dreaded start of the work week and the “case of the Mondays”. Not great associations, but not the worst in the world.

Other ideas to consider as the long form of [name]Immy[/name]:

[name]Aimee[/name]
[name]Cosima[/name]
[name]Decima[/name]
[name]Demetria[/name]
[name]Immaculada[/name]
[name]Imani[/name]
[name]Imelda[/name]
[name]Imperia[/name]
[name]Jamie[/name]
[name]Jessamine[/name]
[name]Kimana[/name] / [name]Kimani[/name]
[name]Martimana[/name]
[name]Massima[/name]
[name]Maxima[/name]
[name]Mimosa[/name]
[name]Olimpia[/name] / [name]Olympia[/name]
[name]Primavera[/name]
Primevère
[name]Primrose[/name]
[name]Salima[/name]
[name]Septima[/name]
[name]Ultima[/name]

It took me a moment to figure out how you were getting [name]Immy[/name] from [name]Monday[/name]. So yes, I think it’s a stretch. Some people may not get it at all.

[name]Imelda[/name] is the only thing I thought of.

Thank you both for your suggestions, but I don’t particularly [name]LOVE[/name] any of those names…

Any more suggestions?

I do think [name]Immy[/name] for [name]Monday[/name] is a bit of a stretch. But I think it’s just fine to have a NN you love and use that really has nothing or very little to do with the name. I’m an [name]Elizabeth[/name] and I’m a fan of all those stretchy NNs such as [name]Izzy[/name], [name]Libby[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], Zebby, [name]Ebb[/name], Bizzy, etc, so I say use [name]Immy[/name] for [name]Monday[/name] if you like it.

Also, gotta say, [name]LOVE[/name] the idea of [name]Immy[/name] for [name]Simone[/name]!!! [name]One[/name] of my MNs is [name]Simone[/name] and I’ve thought of going by it. [name]Will[/name] have to think about [name]Immy[/name]. It’s a fun NN! [name]Simone[/name] has so many great NNs too. [name]Immy[/name], [name]Simmy[/name], Simo, [name]Mona[/name], [name]Sime[/name], [name]Si[/name]… My vote is for [name]Simone[/name]!

Immanuella is one no one has mentioned!

I’m not sure if these are proper names but:
Niamhe [prn nee-ma]
Nimmia [prn ni-mi-a]
[name]Nima[/name] [a simpler spelling of Niamhe]

I don’t really like [name]Monday[/name] as a name in general…I agree with the point teacherma made…associations like “a case of the Mondays,” etc. Also the day-of-the-week name makes me think [name]Wednesday[/name] [name]Adams[/name]. I also have no idea how you could make [name]Immy[/name] work as a nn.

Maybe you aren’t open to this, but I didn’t see anyone else suggest this so I thought I’d try…if you aren’t in love with any of the Im- names people are suggesting, why not change [name]Immy[/name] to [name]Emmy[/name]? The sound is essentially the same, and that opens your options up to include all of the [name]Em[/name]- names. Sure, some are uber-popular, but I’m sure it would be easy to find a hidden gem you could use.

Why are you spelling [name]Immy[/name] with an I? It looks ridiculous to me unless you are using it with [name]Imogen[/name]… but [name]Emmy[/name] is much nicer looking and more correct. [name]Immy[/name] looks made up…

I think it is a stretch for [name]Monday[/name] and I dislike days of the week names just because it’s setting your kid up for teasing…

Some suggestions:
[name]Emily[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Emelia[/name]
[name]Emanuel[/name]
[name]Emery[/name]

I really like the sound of [name]Immy[/name].
[name]Imani[/name] nn [name]Immy[/name] would be my vote, I think its a gorgeous name and means faith.
I also love the suggestion of [name]Simone[/name] nn [name]Immy[/name].

Not a fan of [name]Monday[/name], the day or the name.

I have another suggestion, and maybe this is just too off-the-wall for you, but it’s worth a try.
What about the name [name]Imagine[/name]?
I think it is kind of pretty sounding, though I would probably use the NN 98% of the time.
Assuming she’s only misbehaved 2% of the time…

[name]Do[/name] you have a middle name picked out?

[name]Primrose[/name] and [name]Simone[/name] have made the most sense. But if that is the name you love then I’d make it the name period with a classic middle.
[name]Immy[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Immy[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Immy[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Immy[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
Etc.

Ooh, also [name]Crimson[/name].
