WDYT of Ivo?

My grandfather (whom I was very close to) was named [name_m]Ivo[/name_m] and its long been a name I planned to use as a middle, but now I’ve started considering it for a first. I’m just wondering, since the name has such particular and strong connotations to me due to my grandfather, what kind of impression does this name give you? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like it? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you find it strange?

Also, how would you pronounce it? We called my grandfather EE-vo, but I’ve heard it pronounced EYE-vo also. Which do you prefer?

Thanks for any insight you can offer!

My first impression of this name was a good one. I definitely think you should use it, especially because it was your grandpa’s name! I pronounced it “eye-vo” (like [name_m]Ivan[/name_m]) in my head when I first read it, but “Ee-vo” works just as well, and since it’s an unusual name, you will probably have to tell people how to pronounce it for the first time anyways. Neat name.

I like it. I’ve heard of [name_m]Ivor[/name_m], but I don’t know which incarnation of the name is more common.

Thanks for your feedback! Does anyone else have any thoughts? Does it seem too “out there”?

My boss is called [name_m]Ivo[/name_m], and he is a junior, so it doesn’t sound so out there for me. My boss pronounces his name as EE-vo, too, so that’s the pronuncitation I know. I really like it, it’s a very handsome name, especially if you take into account the personal ties you have to it.

I think it sounds like a great choice for a baby boy! I love the family connection and think is sounds like a very nice name.

I also pronounced it EE-vo
