WDYT of Jubilee?

I love word names and I’m trying to find names that would go well with [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] without seeming too “matchy”. I’ve liked the name [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] since I was a kid after reading about the character from the X-Men comics. Her real name was Jubilation [name_u]Lee[/name_u] lol, but went by [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] as a codename.

What are your initial thoughts about the name? If you met a little girl named [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] would you assume her family is religious?

Edited: I do like Juniper too, but I’m afraid it’s too Christmas-y with Winter and Ivy. WDYT? Juniper or Jubilee?

Name and combo suggestions are always welcome!

[name_f]TIA[/name_f]

I knew a [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] who seemed to feel compelled to offer a sort of disparaging explanation of how her name was chosen every time she was introduced. I sensed it made her uncomfortable to have a bold and unusual name. Others might really enjoy it, though.

I love the name, even if it is bolder than [name_u]Winter[/name_u] or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. I love [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], too, and I don’t think it’s too Christmassy with [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. I actually think it is a nice tie between the three names.

I think of the Duggars. They had a daughter with the name. It fits with all of the other words that are used as names.

I don’t love word names but I really like [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]. I feel like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_u]June[/name_u], and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] make it feel much more accessible.

I like the upbeat sound of [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f], but yes, I would think she comes from a religious family. I prefer [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], but think it’s too much paired with [name_u]Winter[/name_u] (the double -er) or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (too botanical). What do you think of [name_f]Julissa[/name_f], [name_f]Juliette[/name_f], [name_f]Junia[/name_f], [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_u]Juneau[/name_u], [name_f]Jonquil[/name_f], or [name_f]Jacinta[/name_f]?

@erin beth That’s unfortunate that she felt it necessary to explain her own name. That’s not something I would like to saddle with my children and I already feel like [name_u]Winter[/name_u] is a little too “out there” for some people. Thank you for your honesty!

@quirkflower I love [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and I don’t mind a [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] theme (it’s my favorite holiday), but I didn’t want it to be overt. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is still on my list, but I feel that [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] might not be a good choice for me. Thank you for the reassurance! I appreciate all the feedback.

@autumnreverie Oh dear, I’m not keen on the Duggars. I might need to rethink the name cause I don’t want any association with them. Thank you for the heads up!

@primbutcher [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] is a great name, but [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is such a beautiful suggestion! Thank you!

@mayday [name_f]JUNO[/name_f]! [name_u]Love[/name_u] this suggestion! I never would have thought of it myself and I much prefer it to [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]. [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] would be so nice together! Thank you!

[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to add that I also adore [name_f]Juno[/name_f] with [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]. Was unaware it was a Duggar name, that’s unfortunate! I would not assume a [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] came from a religious family. I adore the suggestion of [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. I like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] but don’t love it with her sister’s names. Good luck.

[name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] reminds me of the royal family, as in the [name_f]Queen[/name_f]'s [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f], and the big grand events celebrating those. It seems a bit too ostentatious of an association for a person’s name to me, sorry. I wasn’t aware of any religious association with [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f].

I love [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], but a sibset of [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] seems too nature-y to me, not necessarily Christmassy though.

I’m guessing you aren’t a fan of the more traditional Jul- names like [name_f]Julia[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet/name_f, [name_f]Julianna[/name_f]? You might like [name_f]Junia[/name_f] as well as the lovely suggestion of [name_f]Juno[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f], I think it’s fun and happy. Somebody on a different site had a [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Rosette[/name_f] which I thought was such a pretty name, very festive. My first association would be with the character in [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Green[/name_u]'s short story in let it snow (actually a [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] story) I don’t find it too much with [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and I don’t think [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] or [name_f]Juno[/name_f] is too much either, they’re all lovely.

I’m not a big fan of word names, but I think [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] is fine and definitely wearable due to similar names such as [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] gaining popularity. I wasn’t aware of a religious association with [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f], and all I think of is the British royal family.

I do love the suggestion of [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], but it’s perhaps too similar to [name_u]Winter[/name_u] due to the -er ending, and too similar to [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] with the botanical connection.

[name_f]Juno[/name_f] is great however and I love it with [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]!

@fionnabhair Thank I agree entirely! It was such a great suggestion.

@llbaby22 I was unaware as well. I had mostly heard the name from the comic books but I also knew it from my private school education, so that was my concern. I agree that [name_f]Juno[/name_f] works better than [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] with [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. Hopefully I’ll have 3 girls in the future to give them such pretty names. Thanks for the feedback!

@bonfireazalea I forgot about the [name_f]Queen[/name_f]'s [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]! Haha I wonder if people would think I’m obsessed with the royal family. I actually do love [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]/[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]! I would definitely consider it for a middle. [name_f]Junia[/name_f] is also beautiful  Thank you!

@kizzy_delgado [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Rosette[/name_f] is a beautiful combo! I’ve never read anything by [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Green[/name_u] before, so I was unaware of the association. I’ll have to check into it! Thanks!

@bretalk I agree that [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is a little too on the dot with [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], which is sad since I do love the name. It’s even worse because my mom’s name is [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f], haha could you imagine! I’ll just hope to meet a little [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] in the future and admire from afar. [name_f]Juno[/name_f] is much more my style. Thank you very much for the feedback.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback! I’ve really appreciated the honesty and the great suggestions. Now I just have to get my family on board with [name_f]Ursa[/name_f] as a fourth sister

I’ve only seen [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f] used by evangelical [name_m]Christian[/name_m] parents. However, I don’t see any reason why the name shouldn’t be used by other types of parents.

I think of the Duggars, too, but also a girl I went to college with (I think she might’ve been from Papua [name_m]New[/name_m] Guinea, but I’m not sure). It seems like a pretty nice name, but almost too cutesy/over-the-top? I do like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] more. I don’t find [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] to be too Christmasy, but I do like your [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] more, personally. (Let me clarify; I like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] better in general, but I like [name_f]Juno[/name_f] better with [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]!)

Good luck!

@bettekathleen
I’m glad you like [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. It has the same spunky feel as [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], but is more streamlined, which really makes it a better fit with [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. I could definitely see [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] on a pet, so keep it in your back pocket! I’ve never heard of [name_f]Ursa[/name_f] as a given name, although I have recently developed a soft spot for [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] because of its meaning of “little she bear.”
