Me and a close friend of mine were talking about names and what would we name our future children. She mentioned her favorite name was [name]Claire[/name] but with a “K”. At first I wrinkled my nose at the idea but then she expressed her reason. Since her name is Khloe, it would link her daughter’s name with hers. Then I warmed up to it and started to like it a bit. It really gets me thinking though. Only one letter in the name changed but it seemed to change the entire name completely. Does it really matter? Does [name]Klaire[/name] throw off the appeal of the original?
While I do prefer the [name]Claire[/name] spelling, I’m not really opposed to the [name]Klaire[/name] variation. At first glance, it looks a bit Scandanavian.
I appreciate the link she wants with her daughter. Its very sweet. But there are nicer ways to do so.
If I have two girls one will have the middle name [name]Aster[/name] because its my birth flower. It also mean star and I love everything star related.
I like [name]Clare[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Blair[/name], but I just can’t wrap my head around [name]Klaire[/name]. Sorry
I think part of the appeal of [name]Claire[/name] is that it sounds edgy and sharp but looks sweet and soft (C’s seem sweet and soft to me for some reason haha). The K makes it seem harsher and takes away that appeal. It also makes it seem trendy and like the mom was just trying to be trendy. I love [name]Claire[/name] though!
I find it hideous, personally. I think the “Cl” sounds in [name]Khloe[/name] and [name]Claire[/name] link the names already, there’s no need to change the letter for an additional connection.
I don’t like [name]Claire[/name] much to start with, except as a middle name, but [name]Klaire[/name] is worse. And I think [name]Khloe[/name] and [name]Klaire[/name] is horribly cutesy, sorry to say. A name normally spelled with K wouldn’t be so bad, like [name]Khloe[/name] and [name]Katherine[/name] or [name]Khloe[/name] and [name]Kate[/name].
